"Fancy Me Yet?"

Really old roleplay samples for my old fursona Sagisou.

Some rich dude was throwing a party for New Year's eve. The news had arrived to his ears from a friend, who was really more likely to fit in than him. He had been mostly bored at home and this was a good chance to do something different. Although he wasn't thrilled, he would get some free booze and food so it couldn't be really that bad. There was only one requirement and that was dressing the part. Fortunately he had some fancy clothes other than his regular leather jacket and jeans combo, but he couldn't find his hat. The croc had been searching for hours and his roommate didn't seem to know anything about it. He could just get a new one, though the shipment would take way too long and he wouldn't make it to the party. His only choice was finding a shop and find some hat he would like. Tough luck, he was really fond of the one he had and he didn't think he would find a replacement easily, but he still needed a hat to cover as much of his face as possible.

Hat shops were not something people saw often anymore, and he had to drive a really long way to find one. As expected, it was an old shop, and probably the owner would be just as old too. The door was large, heavy wooden, heavily studded and not really worth much today. He pulled it open and heard the tingling of some doorbells right above his head. His assumption was clear when he saw an old bruin taking some measurements on one large fellow in the corner, the pointed ears seeming to be a trouble for the bear to work with. Rather than intruding with the man's work, he looked around, admiring a huge variety of hats exposed to view. A trio of teenagers were oggling his motorcycle at the door, he watched them through the display window until one had climbed on and pretended to be driving it. He quickly walked out of the shop to scare the kids off, which didn't take more than a loud 'Hey!'. Once he left his bike safe from the brats, he moved back into the shop and watched the bruin moving behind the counter to attend him.

"Welcome to my store, can I help you?" The hold bear greeted, putting a notebook under the desk. He had obvious aged features and rather wicked looking teeth, dressed in a plain brown coat and shirt. The black fur had started to go white on some spots and the gut was fairly predominant too.

"Well, yeah. I was looking for a hat, something fancy. Ya know. Not a top hat or anything like that, maybe a fedora." Sagisou thought it could work with the suit he had, though maybe it would made him look like a ganster rather than a sharp dressed man. So on a second thought, he didn't want a fedora at all. "I don't know, I will tell ye if I see anything I like." With that, he turned to the shelves again and kept looking at the hats. There was so many it would just be hard to choose one from. Maybe he should have brought his roommate along and ask her which one would look good on him.

One hat in particular had caught his eye sooner than expected. He didn't know if he could touch them but he was really close to do it. Suddenly he had that sensation as if someone was watching him, and he turned his head to look at the bear - which was his first guess as to who could be eyeing him. The bruin was actually busy, organizing a few hats behind the counter. Shrugging the feeling off, he decided there was no harm in reaching out for the hat and examine it closely. So he picked it out from the shelf, turned it around to check out the size and price, then imagined what he would look like with it on. There was no need to have a very vivid imagination when the shop could provide with something much better; mirrors. He saw one near the counter, opposite from the direction he was facing. When he turned around, he caught a brief glimpse of a man checking out the hats too but he didn't say anything as he walked near by, then stood right in front of the full body mirror.

Carefully, he put the hat on. It was similar to a fedora but without the lace. His head was probably too big for it, though he didn't doubt that the bear would have one his size. That was only if he liked the hat he had chosen. Turning his head left, then right, he checked whether or not it suit him. Was hard to tell since he wasn't really wearing the right clothes to wear a hat on his head too, though probably it shouldn't matter what he had on his body to find a good hat. He sighed and took the hat off his head, moving back to where he picked it from and left it in the same place. What he would need was some opinion, a bit of help from someone who really knew a thing or two about fashion. He, who had never watched a single fashion show, wasn't the most indicated person to find anything suitable for anyone. And most likely, if he found a hat he would like and thought it looked good, other people would have a complete different opinion. In other words, he didn't really have much of a sense for fashion, despite that he could enjoy seeing a man in fancy clothes.

So forward with many things and so indecisive with others, he was a bit clueless as to what kind of hat to pick - not only for the party but also to wear on many ocassions. Moving to the opposide shelves again, this time to check out the hats there rather than using the mirror, his gaze briefly met with the lemur's own and he nodded a bit before reaching out high to grab a hat. It was a top hat and he would look plain silly on this, so he quickly put it back in the shelf and shook his head. "C'mon, not even women take this long t' pick something he would like t' wear." The crocodile said to himself, although loud enough so the man next to him could actually hear it.

A few good hats were at the bottom of the shelf and he crouched down to take a look there. Even if they all looked great, he didn't know which one he could pick out, so he did what most people would do in his shoes; check thr prices and go for the cheaper ones. "Too expensive. Too expensive. Eh..." He muttered each time he turned the price tags.

His first thought to this was 'There must be a cheaper shop' but the truth was that he wouldn't be able to find another hat shop in miles. Well, like they said, no pain no good looks, although it was his wallet the one which would suffer most.

If he wanted something fitting, something elegant, first he would have to imagine himself wearing the clothes that he was going to put on for the party. That wasn't the hard part, though. All he knew was that the hat had to be black, not navy blue or grey like many others he had seen on the shelves. Narrowing it down to a few picks, he examined the black hats in front of him once again - top hats were obviously not the best choice, but then again he was still debating between the cheapest ones since he was going to end up just picking one at random. He didn't like wasting his time in some shop like a regular woman trying to pick between the red dress of the slightly darker red one, even if he didn't have much to do until the party. Well, cleaning his apartment is something that he should probably get done someday but he never did. Sagisou never had much of a reason to tidy up since he wasn't seeing anyone, and until that day would come, he much preferred to lounge on the couch watching wrestling fights or simply relaxing with a cigar. Last time he was with someone, without counting the one night stands, he still worked in the ring as a wrestler - and that was almost sixteen years ago. Perhaps in the party he would meet someone, though only if he could make up his mind and pick a hat already!

Black and white. He was going to be wearing black and white. Though the jacket and the pants would be black, he could still pick a hat with both of these colors as well, matching his shirt. Again, he found more choices than he had been expecting to and he was about to give up when the lemur next to him spoke. At first he wasn't sure if the man was talking to him but the eye contact was, without a doubt, a good way to know. Like in a trance, he stared into the orange eyes. They were hard to miss anyway, especially when that was about the only colourful feature on the male; the fur was just white and black, like the suit he was going to be wearing. But he liked more than the eyes about the male, and when looking at him so closely he could admit that he wouldn't pass up the opportunity to sleep with him if given the chance. That is, dirty thoughts for a dirty mind, always ahead of any rational impression he could have of someone, but at least he didn't say it out loud. He didn't whistle or stared in a lustful manner, his expression was somewhat stoic most of the time.

"Well..." He started. That was one of the words he used plenty when he needed some time to think of what to say next or if he wanted the other person to speak for him. "That would be helpful, actually. I have zero fashion sense. I just need t' wear something like this fer a party and I can't decide which hat would look good." His voice was a bit gruff, but not rude. It also had some strange accent, most likely from a foreign country or just the streets. Compared to the lemur's almost soothing voice, his was just not too appealing to listen to. Depended as well on personal preferences too, though.

Suddenly his cell phone rang and he put a hand in his pocket, looking at the lemur. "Just a moment." He said, walking away from the male so he wouldn't be bothering him too much with his conversation on the phone. Then again, he didn't think the primate would be the type to listen to any personal conversation. His first impression of the man was that of a gentleman, a kind soul, but with certain attractiveness. While he walked off, he kept an eye on the lemur, hoping the other wouldn't leave since he could really use some good advice on what hat to wear, and if it went well he could invite the male to a drink or something. Oh, c'mon. What am I thinking? He is probably like twenty years younger than me. No way he is going to be interested. He thought to himself as he heard a friend talk over the phone, telling him if he would go to a race. "It's not tonight, right? It's New Year's eve. Besides, I have plans." His friend said it was just the day after since the streets wouldn't be too busy, but he shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. I will call ye back if I decide t' go." With that he hung up, put the phone back in his pocket and then walked up next to the handsome lemur. "Alright, sorry about that. So... what do ye think I should wear?"

He wasn't sure if he would take a stranger's opinion into consideration; not a stranger that would look dirty at least. The lemur was quite the opposite, so handsome and sharply dressed that it would be foolish of him not to take any advice on clothes. Besides, at this point, if he didn't let the male help him to pick a particular hat, he would likely end up with the ugliest hat in the party. When in doubt, he usually just picked the cheapest stuff, and that would not be leaving a very good impression to all the fashion snobs that he would see in the party, for sure. So much trouble to fit in. Just try something different this year. Was what his friend told him and somehow convinced him to go in that moment, but he still had his doubts. Why didn't he decide to spend the New Year eve at home like most years, or even go to a cheap party in some pub? Is not like he was going to meet anyone interesting there but snobs. Yet, he figured it would actually be funny to see them interact, or it would just be so boring that he would leave before the clock hit midnight. Too many contradictions in his mind, he will decide what to do later at home with the flip of a coin.

As he heard what options he had, he looked at the rack, and in particular at the first hat that the lemur pointed him to. "Black, huh?" That was exactly the color he considered that would look best, but he didn't know if he wanted a fedora or a flat hat. He grabbed the hat from the rack when the owner wasn't looking, and tried it on. "How does it look?" Even if there was a mirror just a few steps away, he prefered to hear the lemur's opinion as he was quite aware that he didn't have the best looks. Letting himself go was the worst thing he could have done, but he didn't look back at it. After all, a good percentage of guys his age didn't look like a model from a gym magazine, even if he once had the body of a real wrestler and not the body of some lazy a**. Certainly, the lemur's physique was much more appealing. In any case, he had to put that idea off his mind, he would never end up in the same bed as the primate.

"Maybe I will take it." He couldn't be bothered to waste much more time in the shop, he wanted to do other things. None of these things consisted on cleaning or working, and he had some back up plan if he decided not to go to the party. As he removed the hat from his head and looked inside to find the price tag, another of the clients that was also looking for a fancy hat to wear didn't look behind him while taking a step back. His tail was hit, and then stepped on - he didn't really feel it since the tough scales and spines almost made a perfect armour, but his body reacted instinctively, pulling his tail back. That made the large rhino behind him trip and suddenly shove him forward. Since he was distracted, he didn't have time to react or even stay still. The rhino was about his size, hence it was impossible not to budge, and with his tail slightly off the ground he quickly lost balance after the shove, falling down on top of the lemur that was in front of him. He didn't want to imagine how the primate would have seen it happen, a large, bulky reptile suddenly falling right on top of him. His main concern was to find something he could hold onto, as to not crush the man under his weight. It was a bit brusque, but he managed to grab one of the racks, and it came down with him with a great crash.

Nothing he did helped him or the lemur much, except one thing. Before making the lemur hit the floor, he put an arm around the male's head, safely holding it away from the solid surface. The rack fell nearby but didn't hit anyone. He was also right on top of the lemur, his body and head quite close. It was quite the unexpected event, he had imagined himself being on top of the handsome man but not really like this. "Are ye alright?" Sagisou asked seconds later, slowly pulling his body away and moving back to his feet. He held out a hand to help the lemur stand up too, and then looked over his shoulder at the rhino. "Be more careful, idiot." That insult slipped him, he wasn't really the type to outright insult anyone but he was a little mad that the lemur could have been hurt.

"I'm not the one with a six feet tail laying on the floor, homeboy. You watch where you put that thing." The rhino retorted, trying to have the last word and starting a fight.

He had two options. Hit the male in the face or play it cool and just ignore him. If he had been alone, probably he would have done the former, but he didn't want the lemur to see him as some aggressive sort. The owner of the local came quickly to stop the rhino, so he didn't really have a chance to hit him anyway. After picking up the fedora hat he was going to purchase, he dusted it off and then walked to the counter, waiting for the owner to get back so he could pay. Before long, he was given the change and a bag with the hat in it, and he turned to the lemur. "Thanks for the help, man." That was as casual as it could be, he didn't think that anything else would happen so he walked out of the shop to sit on his bike.
