My Occasionally Updated Journal
I think I'd like to get back into keeping a journal. I'll try to update it each week. Of course you're welcome to read it.
An update (mixed in with some angsting-- be warned)
(I'm not feeling creative in coming up with titles for journal entries at the moment, so sorry it's not specific as to what this entry entails.)

Just thought I'd share what's going on in my life at the moment, since I realized I don't share much with everyone on here, and for some reason that's been making me a bit sad lately.

My summer's been all right, although I'm amazed at how quickly it's passing. I still need to read Beowulf for AH (Accelerated Honors-- I'm honestly not sure what the difference is between it and regular Honors, other than different reading material) English, and I haven't even started yet.

I can be a lazy bum sometimes, I confess.

We haven't traveled anywhere, and I'm not sure we're going anywhere this year. Sometimes in the past, we've taken a road trip down to Sanibel Island in Florida, and it's really nice and relaxing down there-- but money's a little tight right now, from the divorce and everything, so staying at a really nice condo there is probably out of the question. We've gone to Wisconsin Dells in the past (it's not too far, only about two hours of a trip or so), but I don't even know about that.

It's not like my family's going broke or anything. Don't worry, I'm pretty sure we get to keep our computer, so it shouldn't get in the way of my visiting you all. smilies/icon_xp.gif But we can't splurge on as many excessive things as we used to, like vacations to Sanibel every other summer, so I think we'll need to keep that in mind.

Back to summer plans. I should be getting my driver's permit soon; I'll need to check the exact date with my mom, but I think she said sometime in the middle of July. That's not too far off.

Since I turned 15 in October, I'm probably getting it a bit late, but my mom found out that Driver's Ed could affect my GPA if I didn't pass or something. I don't know what she's so worried about, since it's still a class like any other class, and though my grades have certainly slipped a bit from the straight A's I used to get in elementary school, to the A's and B's I got in junior high, and now to the mostly B's, a few A's, and even one or two C's I got this year-- even in spite of that, I've never failed a class.

Sometimes I'm worried that I've gotten stupider over the years. Not that I've lost any knowledge, but that I've lost the ability to acquire and retain knowledge, if that makes any sense. Or at least that ability isn't progressing at the rate it used to be progressing, and it annoys me somewhat.

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to getting my permit. It's exciting, if a bit nerve-wracking. I don't know why I'm so anxious, come to think of it.

So what have I been doing all summer, if I haven't been on vacation and I haven't begun taking Driver's Ed classes (or reading Beowulf) yet?

I've been reading my newly acquired copy of The Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare.

I've been riding my bike a bit, on days when it's not unbearably hot.

I've been reading and writing embarrassing fanfiction. Well, the fanfiction itself isn't embarrassingly poor-quality or anything (at least I hope mine isn't). I just consider the general idea of fanfiction to be embarrassing, especially as it pertains to romance (what with the images this often conjures of gushing thirteen-year-old fangirls).

I've also been translating Spanish fanfictions into English, mostly because I get bored, partly because I get annoyed that there are fanfictions out there about pairings I like that I can't easily decipher, and partly to keep my Spanish in shape. I know it's a weird hobby. smilies/icon_sweatdrop.gif

I've been solving Sudoku and logic puzzles, from those puzzle books at the bookstore.

I've been training our puppy and petting my cats in my bed. (They mostly hang out upstairs now, what with the addition of a dog when we've never had one, except for one time when we had a dog at our house and he bit a kid's face, leaving an awful scar, and we had to get rid of him. Not the kid, the dog.)

And I've been lazy.

So nothing new, really.

All right, that's all I wanted to say for now.
