Super 8-Bit Tarot
As a quick follow up to my last journal post, I did purchase a Nikon FM10 last month in January from Aden Camera in downtown Toronto. Having fun using 35mm film and learning basic photography.

In July 2011 I made a journal post about my 8-Bit Tarot deck:

Earlier in the beginning of this month (February 2015), I found my 8-Bit Tarot and Pocket Rider-Waite Tarot decks as I was going through my desk. This lead me to ordering the Super 8-Bit Tarot deck.

I got my copy of the Super 8-Bit Tarot deck yesterday and it's glorious!
You can see the artwork for each of the 78-cards on LunarBistro.com

The original mini limited edition 8-Bit Tarot deck is now sold out. These are business sized cards measuring 2-inches x 3.5-inches.

The art designer Indigo Kelleigh stated in a 16 May 2014 blog post on his website that one of the biggest complaints he has heard from people was that the cards in the original deck was that they were too small to hold, and too thick to shuffle.

While I will agree that the cards can be hard to shuffle due to the thickness; I’ve had no problems holding them. The cards in the Pocket Rider-Waite Tarot deck from US Games (ISBN 978-0-88079-346-9) measures the same as bridge-sized playing cards, 2.25-inches x 3.5-inches, making the cards in the self-published 8-Bit Tarot deck only a quarter inch shorter in width. Thus the complaint about the size of the original 8-Bit Tarot deck isn’t something I can comprehend.

In that same 16 May 2014 blog post, Kelleigh announced the Super 8-Bit Tarot deck. It seems that earlier in that same month he sold the last of his stock of the original mini pixel art deck, and as he was already considering it and reworking the original art files he decided to release a larger version of his tarot deck via The Game Crafter.

The Game Crafter is a print-on-demand board game company that Kelleigh has used twice before. TheGameCrafter.com states on their website that tarot cards made by them are 2.75-inches x 4.75-inches, printed on 12pt heavy clay coated 165lb (269gsm) card stock.

Along with the cards and the cool box, there is also a Worlds of 8-Bit Tarot page, a pixel-art map of the traditional Celtic Cross spread with the card meanings listed on the other side. A PDF copy of this map is available as a free download on LunarBistro.com.

The Super 8-Bit Tarot deck is currently listed on TheGameCrafter.com for $24.99USD plus shipping costs. Because The Game Crafter is a print-on-demand company, there will be a short delay after you place your order before they ship it to you. Your order is added to a queue and when your position comes up, then they make your order and ship it out. There is an option to mark your order as “urgent” for a rush job, but that costs an extra 100% on your order before shipping, a total before shipping of $25 would thus cost $50 plus shipping.
