I was up early today and sorted out my decision to add Adblock Plus to my new computer, while roaming Site Feedback.

Edit: The links seemed to break when copied - it's all there, but the names appear in a group above the comments as a group. At some point in future I may try to repair it, but for now the info is recorded.

Was the poll and the thread designed by Gaia?

Flynn's is the cause of the need for gold.

I think it was made by voldemort (aka ceo)

pls dont banhammer me for saying ceo gaia

Umbridge.
He-who-shall-remain-nameless.

I have a secret.
No one is in charge.
This is just a liquidation.

a few months ago I would have called you crazy with that secret. now? I believe it.

When basic facts are censored, logic becomes labeled conspiracy theory. And attempted logic sometimes approaches or reaches conspiracy theory. And that sort of thing is totally against the history of Gaia, so longtime users are resisting.

Truth be told, I'd've read my last post and dismissed it two months ago.

All of those ads you described should be reported as inappropriate, information for doing so can be found in the thread at the very top in the Bug Reports forum ^^

I agree. The flashing and sound ads aren't pleasant, but Gaia buys their ads as a package, so they do not decide which ads get chosen to be shown. (Other than ads that are specifically Gaia's, of course!)

Why do I need to waste my recreational time reporting ads that won't be changed anyway? Adblock takes no time at all. If it were only a few, I'd do it, but this is overwhelming and I should not be punished for using the site.

No reporting = nothing getting done.

And it's a fairly simple process:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/bug-report-technical-support/how-to-report-inappropriate-ads-on-gaia-updated-procedure/t.85330633/

You don't have to spend an insane amount of time doing any of that, it's about a minute out of your day. This isn't a 'punishment', it's a simple process and it is no way as big as you're thinking it is.

In addition, if you report ads, then it means no one else has to deal with the ads. You're not just doing this for yourself, you're doing it for everyone.

Gaia does deal with inappropriate ads, I know this as fact.

I know you and respect you, but I am seeing ads that were a problem before I had Adblock the first time. 1 minute x how many times? I will consider it. But, really, I just got diagnosed with breast cancer now that my diabetes is under control, and I'd like to enjoy my internet time. Most likely, even if I report the dadblasted ads, I will get the Adblock anyway, since I do not see Gaia Online as being customer service-oriented at all these days. The death of AtA and the archiving of Sisky's thread behind closed doors kind of were a turning pointl. Although the centering of the site drew a lot of complaint, it was really only the tipping point of dissatisfaction, and now that seems to have been done merely to allow ads for a new game (which looks like fun, but - Gaia lied). Not everyone is complaining, but a lot of people are just leaving. Some will be back later to see if anything is left, but some will not.

Sorry if that sounds disaffected. No, I don't trust Gaia like I did before, did you want me to lie about it? The new Gaia doesn't seem to care. Make a profit, it's fine by me, but don't throw customer service and integrity into the toilet.

Not blaming you. Not practicing conspiracy theory. Saying whoever makes such decisions as damage the site, please stop.

I figured if you're prepared to take the time to provide feedback here, you'd be cool with reporting the ads if you saw them ^^

Of course, you don't ~have~ to report them at all! It's totally your choice, I wanted to offer a quicker solution to having the ads you find offensive to the community removed, if that's what you might have wanted to do ^^

I totally understand why you would want to keep it on, hence your reason for providing feedback here about it, and I wouldn't want to stop anyone from providing such feedback, I don't appreciate noisy ads either! Generally the Site Feedback forum requires us to provide feedback that includes suggestions of what we would want, and that's one thing Gaia does to help with the particularly annoying ads, so I thought I might include it here, not only for you, but for anyone else that comes along and isn't aware.

I wonder if it were possible for Gaia to make the ads reportable from the page they're on? Perhaps that would cause much more work for moderators, though, as people might misuse the feature and overload already very busy mods. I think the system now is ok.

As for the other part of your thread, well, customer care is very important, on that I agree!

Whoa! I'm impressed, and I agree. I came back figuring I'd be put down for being lazy/having attitude, and what you said made sense.

If it were minor, it would be one thing, but when the problem is so massive and Gaia has generally turned her back (closed down AtA, pulled Sisky's thread, bombing us with ads upon ads at every turn, misrepresenting, generally turning into an opt-out site with aggressive advertising that values users on the basis of amount of cash spent, and even then not very valued - yeah, I'm unhappy, and conflicted. I left the ads on for nearly 4 weeks, but at this point it is 'why punish myself'?)

I guess I am having a discussion/debate with myself in public, and the outcome is that I resist an opt-out site where the output is aggressive. Being told it's my own d----d fault for not following a set procedure or putting up with disrespect, I've no patience with it. Adblock goes on, waffling is over.

Btw - a very funny Lanzer video is on YouTube, but in the general atmosphere, I won't link it.

I'll quote it here: [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVsqFRjM1oY&list=LLSUW1MD4m8COG8a4E7ZSYnA-/url]
Omnidrink. Code word like Umbridge.

I gave a fair trial to the ads, I've had it with them. Adblock won't remove the popups, backgrounds, or Staff Alert ads. I feel no obligation to allow aggressive sales pitches irl or online.

What is more surprising is that I would even consider keeping aggressive advertising...it shows the change in the users' attitudes towards the site. I am very sad at the changes that so accelerated in the past 2 months.
