Chapter Two:
"OH NO!” Botan screamed as she rushed through the hallways, speeding towards the front of the school so she could make it to combat practice. “I’m going to be late!” Nearly crashing into the front doors, she was able to stop herself and push them open. She soon saw the teacher and Alaa once she was on the grounds. "Wait! I’m here! Don’t start class without me!" she called out. Unfortunately, in the time that it took her to take that action, she had to stop paying attention to her surroundings for a split second, and, as a consequence, ran straight into a tree. "Oh, Sh-" she started, but her curse was broken off as her head made contact with the brittle and dead tree.
Alaa whirled around when he heard Botan and laughed heartily when she ran face first into the tree. He had been about to do a lesson with the teacher (which basically meant that he was just going to fight him), but he had gotten distracted, thanks to Botan. "Come on, Botan! You’re breaking my concentration!" He exclaimed before turning his attention back on the teacher and trying to take a fighting stance. However, the image of Botan hitting the tree filled his mind and, unable to contain himself, he dropped to the ground laughing.
"Whoa…look at all the stars..." Her voice sounded dizzy, and she had to shake her head to try and regain focus. It obviously didn’t help, however, for when she looked up at Alaa from her upside down position, she shouted "Alaa! When in the hell did you clone yourself?!"
Sagi, the combat teacher with a thin build and long blue hair that was tied back at the base of his neck, snorted from the effort of trying not to laugh. He had been watching with amusement the entire time. "Please tell me you don't need to go to the hospital wing because of a half dead tree?"
Upon hearing the teacher’s remark, Botan flipped over and jumped to her feet, giving a salute and mocking a soldier who was standing at attention towards his commanding officer. "Sir!" she started, "No Sir, I have a hard head, Sir!" and then ran up, looking cheerful and no longer pretending to be serious. "Botan reporting for class, sir!"
With that remark, Sagi couldn't help himself. He burst out into a full round of hearty laughter. Taking a deep breath and wiping tears from his eyes he commented, "Well, Botan, lets hope your hard head will always be there to save you!"
"Well, I sure hope so too. It has saved me more than once in the past, that’s for sure." she agreed with a small nod, before adding "I would certainly have to have a hard head if I want to survive Alaa's constant noogies." As she said this, she glanced at Alaa and rubbed the top of her head a little, then stuck her tongue at him. He simply smirked.
Then, once everyone had settled down, Sagi started to relay the rules of combat. Alaa rolled his eyes and turned to Botan. He was obviously bored—they were seniors, they knew all this basic trash. Forming his fingers to make a 'blah, blah, blah' sign, Alaa mocked the teacher while he wasn’t looking. To Alaa, the new teacher was all talk and no action. Botan snickered slightly at the action, but Sagi, being half elf, heard the sound easily, and asked her to come up and demonstrate a proper battle to the class.
Botan sighed and did as she was told. Brandishing her throwing knives and her eyes glowing red as she prepared to fight the teacher, she charged in. Botan put up a very good fight, and Sagi had to come up with creative ways to dodge her constant attacks. In the end, however, Sagi did win. He was selected to be the new combat teacher for a reason, after all.
With a sore head from where Sagi whacked her with the back of his sword several times, Botan was allowed to take a break, and she found an area on the sidelines to sit down on. “Jeeze…he was tough…” She muttered to herself.
It wasn’t long until Alaa walked over to Botan. "Way to make an idiot of your self Botan," he teased. "If that had been me out there he wouldn't know what hit him." He smirked as he finished, crossing his arms in front of him and looking expectant.
"Oh yeah, Alaa!” She retorted, suddenly full of life from his teasing, and jumped to her feet threateningly. He stepped back, surprised at Botan's sudden burst of energy. He laughed nervously and put his hands in front of him as if to surrender. "Maybe your right."
Botan calmed down, taking a deep breath. "I’m sorry Alaa," she muttered, "I'm just frustrated, you know I don't lose that easily…” Trailing off, she smirked and added, “But I still don't think you could do any better!"
"I'm better then you," he sneered at her. Alaa remembered when he had first met Botan. Back then she drove him insane, they were always arguing! Now, he'd become attached to the way that she constantly made everything between them a competition.
"Oh, sure.” She retorted, with a roll of her eyes, as if to say that that would never happen. “Why don't you put your money were your mouth is, then?" she challenged, as if she hadn’t just spent her energy by engaging in combat with the teacher.
However, just then, the bell echoed in Alaa's ears. The two looked at each other as the class scattered off to go to their next class. The two then grimaced. They had black magic with that Yue Yomi guy. No way they were going to sit through a class with that flirt. No way in hell.
DundunDUN! End Chapter Two. Expect a big fight next Chapter. xD Heehee.
