It was a dark night, no clouds in the sky just the full moon for lighting. The street lights were on but only showed what was clearing underneath them. I walked on the side walk as a few cars passed by me. One or two stopped but I declined their invite into their car. I knew better, but my common sense wasn't smart enough to get the feeling to never walk alone more of less at dark. I heard something and looked behind me, then a yelp but a muffled. Getting the feeling that either some animal is dying and looking for me to make a last meal out of or someone's in trouble. Cautiously walking more walking on toes, I peeked around the door. My eyes widen as a cold peice of metal was aimed at a figure's head. It was to dark to see, but looking closely, it was a man and a woman. My eyes aren't good at night seeing from a far, but I knew something wasn't going to be pleasant. I turned to run, but slipped, the figure with the gun fired at me on a instant. Pain shot through my leg and I let out a howl in pain. Limping or fast running with a injuried leg I tried to get around the side walk. After running for what seemed like forever, I stopped and broke to my knees. Holding my wounded lower leg, trying to get the bleeding to stop. I saw lights then the wheel turn. A drunk driver on the loose. I never thought I would see another day, but I lived from being hit by a car. I had stood up and tried to get out of the way, but the bumper hit my thigh and I went flying for about ten feet over the fence and into a yard where the owner's dog kept on licking me until the owner woke up from the barking. I was sixteen and learned my lesson to never walk alone. My legs were broken and two years later I got the courage to walk and did for about five minutes or about three steps. I'm eighteen now and I have crutchs to help me balance until I can walk again. The doctor said when I'm at least twenty I can walk if not then I might be on crutchs for a few more years. The rapist was caught and charged with two accounts of attempted murder and rape. The drunk driver wasn't so lucky and died when his car hit a curb and flipped.
