After some confusion, we got on the shuttle and set off for the dock. There was a large group of people, all wearing matching pink shirts (who we had dubbed "the clan") who tried to take our shuttle the day before. Today, they were still waiting when we left.
This driver was better. He talked and diddnt even use his horn. It took a bit to actually board because of all the security. After all, we were leaving the country. They checked your Sign and Sail card at least five times. On the boat, the card was your life. It got you drinks, was your room key, and got you on and off the boat. We wandered around the boat for an hour or so.
The Carnival ship we were on was enormous. 12 decks of rooms, bars, pools, and parties. But even that diddnt help the drill.
A half an hour of hell. After putting on the bulky, awkward lifevests, you had to stand outside while everyone got to their muster stations. Cramped together. Shoulder to shoulder. As if the heat and humidity outside wasnt enough, all 3000 passengers in close quarters made things hotter. I was anxious to get out of there; I had more exploring to do.
My neck hurt when the drill was finally over. After returning out life vests to our room, we wandered around more, until we went back outside. The sun was way too bright. I had to get my sunglasses out. When I finally got them and came back outside, my family had moved. I did a whole lap around the boat, passing 3 clear, salt-water pools and multiple bars. It was hot. I was sweaty. And we were leaving port.
The water in Miami was like the water at home; green, somewhat murky, and with stuff floating in it. Nothing new there. The Miami scenery, however, was awsome. There were bridges and plam trees everywhere. When the engines turned on, huge amounts of dirt from the waters bottom got churned up, turning the water brown. People started to cheer as we passed a boat in dock, going so we could turn around and set sail. I stayed outside and watched for as long as I could. Although a breeze helped ot keep me cool, it was still very hot.
We ate dinner in the Paris dining room. Passengers were assigned a table in one of the two 2 story dining rooms onboard, the Paris and London dining rooms. The dress code today; smart causal. I was allready wearing a yellow polo, so I diddnt have to change. Our grandparents sat with us, too. Each table had two waiters; a head waiter and an assistant waiter. They were assigned to different sections and served many tables, all at once. The head waiter was Anil, from India. He was nice, but not too great. And then there was Boris... I loved Boris. He was extremeley cute, and from Slovacia.
After dinner, the boys and I went to go for a walk. However, a sign that read "Teen Dance, 12-14" distracted me. I ditched them, and a show, for it. And Im happy I did.
When I first went in, everyone was sitting off to the side. I sat at a table with two girls and smiled, introducing myself. Finally, I got bored of waiting. I tried to get everyone to go dance, and it worked. The boys stood awkwardly on the dance floor, but the girls actually danced. Lexi became my best friend on this leg of the cruise. She was 12, and very cute. She allready had a few admirers. One guy, Andrew, told me I did great after the dance. After all, I was doing my best moves, and he, like me, was trying to get people to dance. And then there was Mic. He had a long whole name. He was a year younger than me, and about a foot shorter. And yet, still cute. A group of us hung out after the teen dance was over. Mic and I ended up being the last two people to go. I pretended to pout when he had to leave me.
"Here, let me make it up to you." He said. Then, he kissed my hand. Thats when I knew I had him. At the dance, to see if he was interested, I sat down to rest. He came and sat with me.
We hugged when he had to go, the same I did with the other five people that I hung out with that night.
I got back at 1:30, and decided to write for a bit. The boys got room service. I just wanted a chocolate milk.
There was a magnificent storm that night. All around us was pitch black. The only light reflected off the warm rain, covering the water in a light mist. Lightning flashed brightly in 3 directiouns, illuminating the night sky to almost a blinding point. Over the water, thunder boomed like cannonshot, makign me close my eyes in the hot, amazing storm. I finally had to go in after the rain picked up.
My bed was above logans, pulled down from the celing. I got up and down via a small aluminum ladder. I loved it more than their beds. The pillows were fluffy and white, adn the bed comfortable and warm. I even had my own light. Even with all the lights and loud TV, I still fell asleep.
