The crazy life of Rei
Personal thoughts that seem absolutely too ridiculous to share with real life people.
heart heart Journal writing prompt #1: Angel Adopts a Cat

Some errands required a lot of concentration, just to be able to keep from straying from the objective. Today, Rei was doing the shopping for the flat. Their squad had been posted on Terra now for almost 3 years, watching how these humans behaved and reporting back to whether or not it was worth protecting any longer. It was not looking hopeful

People were absolutely horrid to eachother, and strangers, constantly. Stealing, killing, lieing, and cheating. It was neverending. Rei had begun to even lost hope in her comrades, who had begun to not care and even bicker amongst themselves. What was that?

There was a small tinkling somewhere. In a bush? Maybe around the bend. Rei continued along with the journey, hands in pockets and being as nonchalant as possible. There it is again. This time, Rei turned her head to looked for the sound, seeing a small orange tail disappear into a leafy bush. She strode over, kneeling down--hands still in pockets-- in order to see where the kitten had gone.

"Ow!"

The little creature had scratched her. Why? She did nothing to the cat besides be curious.

"What is your problem now? Not just these humans, but now the other creatures populating this planet are becoming vile little creatures."

Rei stood and began to continue on her venture, able to hear some of the sounds of the weekend market streets just a ways ahead. There is that stupid bell again

"Ow!!!"

This tiny creature had affixed itself to Rei's pantleg, claws digging into the temporary mortal flesh. Rei could feel the warmth creep into her calf as the wound became heated and bled a little. She stopped, kneeling down to rip the cat off of her leg and pull up her pant leg.

The scratches were small, although cat nails were vile little areas of dirt and bacteria, and the surrounding skin was already red and a little puffy. She sighed, eyeing the cat who reached to ssipe, yet again, at her face. Rei pulled her head back quickly, eyes never leaving the creatures face, and picked up the cat. Her grip was a bit firm, though not injuring the cat, and she held it at arms length.

Curling its hind legs up to scratch at Rei's forearm, she lifted it, which threw the cat off of its own motion and it hissed.

"What is your issue with me?!"

There was a low growl coming from the bright orange cat. Rei noticed that there was a wound on a hind paw, crusted over with blood and dirt. Clearly a few days old. You're hurt, she thought. Thinking over the situation, Rei placed the cat into one of the woven shopping bags she carried with her and the cat laid down, but with definite arguments as it had swiped again at Rei's hand. Covered in scratches now, Rei continued to market, intent on completing her mission and hoping to figure out the issue behind this tiny, wounded creature.

"I bet you were fighting, weren't you." Rei smirked as she thought of this. Was she growing fond of this cat?

Giving no response, the cat was giving Rei the obvious feeling that it was not pleased with its current traveling situation.

"I know I can't trust you to follow me willingly, and that paw needs attention. If I weren't stuck in this form, we wouldn't need to take such measures. However, as it is, I need actual medicines to help anyone."

Upoin reaching the marketplace, Rei smelled all of the delicious foods being cooked for the tempted passerby: grilled fish, sweet cakes, anything you could skewer onto a stick and fry. Her mouth watered, and she bought some savory smelling fish which had a red seasoning to the outside of it. Thinking better of it, she also bought one for her new little aquaintance. Some of these humans may be foul creatures, but I will not be.

Picking up what she needed for the house, Rei began to head back towards her house. She peaked into the bag and she was asleep. Having turned onto her back, Rei could now see what appeared to be rather engorged teets and no male parts to be seen. Does she have kittens perhaps? Becoming alarmingly aware of how the cat appeared. Initially, the cat appeared thin and aggressive. No signs that would give off the idea that it had just had babies. However, the nippled were very red and the fur surriounding them seemed to be wearing away.

"Are the in the bush, I wonder?" Thinking aloud, the cat peered up at Rei, seemingly sad now. She probably hadn't eaten in a while, and most definitely had not been able to rest. Rei was now determined to go back to where she first encountered her orange friend to find the little ones.

Coming around the corner, she heard it. The barking. Breaking into a run now, Rei swatted the huge beast away. "No! Leave it!" The dog turned on her, having a huge, wrinkled face with a big black nose and deep brown fur. She flexed on it, pulling her arm back into a defensive pose and giving the best death stare she could to the dog. "Leave them alone NOW!" She screamed and the dog backed down, still attempting to hold its ground and growling. Though, seeming to think better of it, it lunged forward and gave one last meaningful bark before turning around and running off.

Reaching into the bush where the dog had had its huge head burried into the branchs, Rei saw 3 little ones. Two were of similar color to mommy, having dark orange fur with white flashes of fur here and there. The third, though, was white as pure snow. And the most fluffy of all. They were at least a few weeks old, being able to stumble around a bit and their eyes were open. Momma cat leaped from the bag and encircled her babies, hissing again at Rei. She understood that the cat was being protective, but she knew that she could help them better at home.

She laid the woven bag down, it being stiff enough to have a slight opening even laid on its side. Momma cat smelled the edges of the bag, looking up at Rei. Though, the remnants of the smell of the fish from before seemed too enticing to pass up. Nudging one of the orange kittens in, the momma grabbed a second baby into her mouth and walked in. This left the white one behind, and the momma turned around in the bag, mewing at her third kitten. Nudging it with her hand, Rei coaxed the third kitten into the bag and gently lifted it into her arms, feeling the kittens roll into eachother and their mother.

"I promise it is much warmer and safer where we are going."

Turning towards her house, Rei gently peered into the bag every so often, seeing the kittens with their faces nuzzled into mommy's tummy, their paws kneeding to coax more milk from her nipples. A gentle smile spread across her face and she began to think, maybe there was something she could do for some of the occupants in this world.

Having a new hope for her mission, Rei prayed that her comrades would have the same openness she had. Would they?

Author's note: Thank you for the first request into my journal! I will be adding more towards the story as I can get on. Life is busy though! Please leave comments on what you think of it, and be honest (but try to keep from being rude). Have fun! And please leave more requests. They can only continue to get better!
