iruka~alright class, now since this is our first time using real katanas, I want you to pair up and parry each other for a while to get a feel for these weapons. These are very different from the wooden ones we've been using. They are heavier and have a different balance
ravi~should we go slow like he wants us to?
ann~for a little bit. You know that he knows we've already done this
ravi~i just don't want him to interfere
ann~good point. Maybe we could slowly back away so he will worry less about the others getting in the cross fire?
ravi~that sounds good
as the girls started by just blocking each others' swings, they slowly took steps to become further away from the rest of the class. Once the two decided they were far enough, they started to pick up the pace, so as to not alert their sensei right away. Iruka finally noticed when their rhythm became out of sync from the rest of the class
iruka~ann! Ravi!
ravi~we've sparred like this before
ann~we won't get hurt
iruka~as your sensei you need to listen to me. What will you do if one of you does get hurt?!
ravi~aniki can take care of us
ann~and it's not like we'll get stabbed in the stomach
iruka~but it's still likely to get hurt in a potentially fatal wound
ann turned away from ravi to face iruka, but she turned too much from where she predicted ravi to lunge to parry her and got impaled in the stomach instead. Ravi gasped and let go of the katana, and iruka eased ann to sit down from shock
ravi~i'm so sorry ann, please don't die! I'm sorry I didn't mean to!
ann~don't worry. I'm okay. I think. Did it go through?
iruka~why aren't you panicked about this?!
ann~i've had worse?
naruto~is she human?!
iruka~we need to get you to the hospital
ravi~s-shouldn't we pull out the sword?
She wiped her eyes and tried not to cry
ann~no. I really might die if it's pulled out now
she looked down and blinked a few times while her eyes crossed
iruka~ravi, sasuke, I want you to gather the weapons and head back to the class room. Sakura, I want you to get the kage to watch the class.

After school, aniki and kakashi came into iruka's classroom
kakashi~hey iruka, I heard something happened a few hours ago?
aniki~there you are ravi. Did you get detention again?
She shook her head but made no move to get up
iruka~there was an accident while we were using the katanas. Ann is in the hospital
aniki quietly~is that why she's...
he pointed to his sister and iruka nodded
kakashi~how bad was it?
iruka~it went through her. They took her straight into surgery because she was passed out by the time I got there
kakashi~i'll go check on her and let you guys know how she is

when kakashi got to the hospital, he got a hold of the doctor that operated on her
kakashi~is she alright?
doctor~she's fine and in stable condition. She'll be out until tomorrow though
kakashi~why that long? The blade didn't hit anything vital did it?
doctor~not at all. Whatever it did cut wasn't anything we couldn't stitch back up. The reason is because she woke up during the stitching and started freaking out. The stuff we gave her before we started should have kept her under until we were done. So to prevent over dosing on the regular stuff, we gave her a small dose of the anesthetics we use on seasoned ninjas
kakashi~an eight year old needed that? She's gonna get hit hard
doctor~we know. We're afraid of how much of a fight she'll put up. This time she only broke one of the nurses' nose. I'd hate to see what she'll do next
kakashi cringed~i guess I could take her. I'll check it out with hokage-sama....

hiruzen~come in
kakashi~hokage-sama, I have a question to ask
hiruzen~what is it?
kakashi~i was wondering, who's going to take care of ann until she's either off the medication or her wounds heal?
hiruzen~i was going to ask if you, iruka, or aniki could take her. If all of you decline I was going to watch her myself
kakashi~honestly, I don't think aniki or iruka would. Ravi is a bit traumatized right now and it seems ann will be more of a handful than naruto for iruka to handle
hiruzen~so you'll volunteer?
kakashi~if she doesn't attack me i'll try

he went back to the hospital and waited in ann's room. Later that evening, ann began to stir.
kakashi~what is she made of? She shouldn't be waking yet
he went to her bed and sat at the edge
kakashi~ann, ann it's okay
she shot up and kicked him, then summoned a few water clones. Kakashi got rid of them quickly then tried to restrain her without hurting her more
ann~let go of me! Where am I?! Where's my uncle?!
kakashi~you're in the leaf village's hospital. Look, if you calm down i'll take you to hokage okay? He can help you. Please calm down before you rip open your stitches
ann~how do I know you won't do something after I stopped?!
kakashi~i would have done something already
ann stopped, then blinked a few times, her eyes crossing again
ann~do I know you?
Kakashi sighed~why couldn't she just go loopy with the drugs? yes, you do. I'll go talk to a doctor before I bring you to hokage. Get some more sleep
she squinted at him and nodded before falling back asleep. He left and then came back after a few minutes and took her to the kage tower.

hiruzen~kakashi, what are you doing here with ann?
kakashi~she threw another fit. I'm surprised she woke this soon. I was told that they gave her a small dose of what they use for more experienced ninjas because she woke early from having the normal stuff
he laid her down on the couch. She made a face then fell back asleep
kakashi~i told her that i'd bring her here and that you'd be able to help her. She mentioned her uncle
hiruzen~oh. Then I guess it's better that you did. Did she mention a name?
kakashi~no. If she did I think she'd have a heart attack when she's sober
hiruzen~she probably would have. You can go now. If I can calm her down enough to stay with you i'll let you know. Otherwise you can assume i'll watch her
kakashi~thank you hokage. Take care
hiruzen~you too
kakashi bowed to him and left. Hiruzen got up and kneeled next to ann
hiruzen~ann, ann. I need you to wake
ann~where's uncle...
hiruzen~he isn't here. You're-
ann had headbutted him and summoned water clones again
hiruzen~ann calm down and listen
ann~what'd you do to him
hiruzen~nothing. He just isn't here. You're in the leaf village and he's fine back in the mist
ann~I'm not in the mist?
hiruzen~no. You were sent to the leaf to avoid following mist customs. Will you dispell the clones?
She scrunched her eyes and nodded, laying back down and releasing the jutsu. Hiruzen rubbed his forehead
hiruzen~no wonder she's so stubborn. She's thick headed. will you remember next time that you're in the leaf?
ann~is zabuza safe?
hiruzen~yes. There's no bad news about him so I can only assume he's behaving
ann~okay...my stomach is wet...i can't tell if my back is too...am I in a pool?
hiruzen~no, but I think you tore open your stitches. You may need to go back to the hospital
ann~but they poke me a lot. And they smell funny
hiruzen~for your own good. Now let me see if I need to take you back first
he slipped his hand under her back then up to her head to ease her up. There was a blotch on her lower back and the sofa. He lifted her shirt to see it bleeding, but nothing was out of place, and it was the same when he inspected her stomach. He picked her up and headed out
ann~are we going to the hospital?
hiruzen~no. I'm going to take you to your home and clean you up, then we'll head to my home after grabbing your things. If you're good i'll let you spend the night with me
ann~if I don't?
hiruzen~you'll still be with me, except I won't be as nice
ann~okay. Can I still have...the...thingy...
she passed out in his arms, so he sighed and continued on to her house.

When he arrived at her house, he cleaned her up and got her things together before going home
ann~where's...mmm...chocolate...cream...
hirzuen~not til after dinner
ann~but...the voices said I can...
hiruzen~what voices?
ann~the nice lady...
she rolled in his arms and pointed
ann~over there...with nice man...
hiruzen~do they have names?
ann~they said...ane and...auron
hiruzen~does auron have a scar? And does ane look kinda like your uncle?
She nodded and yawned
hiruzen~did they say anything about who they are?
ann~no...but they said...you need to get me ice cream...
hiruzen~i will, just after dinner. I'm sure ane will allow that
