It's that time again! (Okay, so I'm not actually on a formal schedule)
I'm going to share another of my favorite French songs with you!
For your listening pleasure, Je te donne (I Give to You)!
This song is written by a man named Jean-Jacques Goldman. He's written a lot of songs for various artists! A few years ago, a whole bunch of French artists got together to pay tribute to him because he's a legend when it comes to writing songs. They released two CDs called Génération Goldman with remixes of many of his most famous songs. I treasure these CDs.
I love that this song is a mixture of French and English, the two voices sing in harmony. The song talks about the things that a couple might give to each other, not physically though. Listen to the refrain:
Je te donne toutes mes differences
Tous ces défauts qui sont autant de chance
On sera jamais des standards des gens bien comme il faut
Je te donne ce que j'ai ce que je vaux
I give you all of my differences
All these defects which are so many chances
We'll never be perfect, good people as we should
I give you what I have, what I'm worth
It's so deep. My favorite lyric is "une épaule fragile et solide à la fois" (A fragile and strong shoulder at the same time) because it's a shoulder to both cry on, and one to hold onto in times of trouble.
I hope you enjoyed the song! =)
