Suddenly There's Sunshine And Rainbows
Today morning I got a call from Halzy, who was a zOMG programmer and one of the smartest engineers I know, and he was calling to share with me some good news:
After reading about my misfortune in my journal, Halzy started searching through old hardware and long and behold, he found a backup copy of the zOMG source code!
This is actually not the first time Halzy had helped us out in big ways. Even after the zOMG development team was disbanded, Halzy would come in and help us on a contracting basis to help us fix bugs on zOMG. That was why he still had backup of the source code with him.
What this means is that moving forward, I would be able to make changes in the game, such as us being able to show your gold amount correctly when your gold count is above 2 billion, or fix other bugs in the game.
On top of the good news, Mavdoc also told me that he had a Halloween event area that was built, but was never released. It's very likely that we can bring that area into the game later this year.
For the time being, we're still sticking to the March 13th re-release date with everything the same as they were in 2012, and meanwhile we'll be testing the new source code for use at a later time.
For now, I still need to figure out why some servers are updated properly and some are still not running the latest code. Back to debugging!
