Hey everyone!
Today I took a small trip, about 45 minutes in the train, to Verona! You know the Verona from Romeo and Juliet?
"In fair Verona, where we lay our scene..." - Prologue
The weather was so wonderful, I truly think (and hope XD) that spring has arrived!
Anyway, during my brief excursion into the city I got to see some wonderful things. Above everything I was able to see the house that inspired Shakespeare for the balcony scene (Act II, Scene ii)! Here is a picture I took of the balcony.
I went inside the house, which is now a mini-museum of sorts dedicated to the production history of Romeo and Juliet. They had some actual costumes, the bed used in the 1968 Franco Zeffirelli film version of the play, and some interesting period furniture that made you feel a bit like looking through a fireplace into another century. (Shoutout to those of you who understood the reference!)
I also walked through the historic center and had not one, but two gelati! They were so delicious. blaugh
Incidentally, today was also Verona's celebration of Carnivale, so I saw some people dressed up in period clothing and extravagant costumes.
All in all it was a wonderful trip! My next one is to Bergamo on Tuesday! I can't wait. =D
