ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Hillary Clinton is pledging her support to the gay community, promising to fight for new laws supporting equals rights, if elected president. Speaking at the annual gala for the Human Rights Campaign, the Democratic presidential candidate told the crowd, "Now I know you've had your share of politicians, courting your support at election time and then disappearing as if your lives and your rights are just political bargaining chips. Those who know me, know this isn't me. I've been fighting alongside you and others for equal rights. And I'm just getting warmed up." Clinton poked fun at several Republican presidential candidates, criticizing their views on gay rights. "Ben Carson says that marriage equality is what caused the fall of the Roman Empire. Ted Cruz slammed a political opponent for marching in a pride parade. He clearly has no idea what he's missing," Clinton said to cheers and laughter from the crowd.
