Know What To Expect When You Stay At Hotels
When planning out hotel stays, there can be much that is sight unseen. That is why you need to know what it takes to find the right hotel deals. In order to make a wise decision regarding what place to stay, you must understand what information you need. Read on so that you can end up sleeping in comfort next time you're on the road.

To accommodate a small family without having to pay for more than one hotel room, look for a location that offers suites. Often the rates are competitive with single-room rates at other hotels, but the addition of a living area (and a fold-out bed) means that more of you can sleep comfortably.

To ensure that you get the best service from the custodial staff at a hotel, leave a few dollars each morning for each bed that you use. This nominal cost will help you get rooms that receive the little extras, such as a towel or two more, or even an extra pillow.

Ask about a hotel discount if you are a member of AAA. Many people are surprised to see hotel discounts included with their auto club membership. It's possible you could save 5 percent or higher on hotels across the United States. These savings really add up.

Use sensible safety and security precautions when you stay at a hotel. Find out where all the fire exits are in case of an emergency. Also, note where the nearby fire extinguishers are located. If you have any valuables, keep them in the safe at the desk or in the room.

Before choosing hotels that look less than top notch, read the reviews. Sure there are lots of hotels that don't look like the Four Seasons, and there are many that are plenty clean to stay in. There are others though that can be very dirty inside. Reading reviews can help you steer clear of the poorer lot of hotels out there.

If you want to save some serious money on your hotel reservations, get the price bundled with something else. This is typically done through an online travel site. When bundled with airfare, hotel room rates drop dramatically, sometimes by over half the list rates that are publicly advertised elsewhere on the Internet.

There's no reason to let your running slip if you're training for a marathon and have a weeklong business trip planned. Look online for local running groups in the city where you are going to stay, and join them for their social runs. If there aren't many groups, look for local running stores, as they also offer social jogs.

Sign on to Facebook and find the page of the hotel you are staying at. If the staff responds, write a little message on their page, and see. You never know, they may offer you a special perk! If nothing else, keep up with what is happening on the page in case any specials are announced.

And you are considering leaving your child there, take a few precautions, if your hotel offers a kid's club. If the staff has undergone background checks and ask about the child to adult ratio, find out. In addition, ask what the procedure is for picking up the child. You want to make sure that someone can't just walk up and leave with your little one.

It is not a good idea to place the "maid service needed" sign on your door at a hotel. This is a dead giveaway that you are not in the room. It can attract people who want to steal your valuables. It is better to notify the desk when you need maid service than to leave out the sign.

If you do not trust leaving your valuables in the safe provided in your room, hotel staff will store it in the safe located there. Make sure that you get some type of receipt verifying the items you give them. This will help cover damages in case something goes missing.

To avoid spending $2 or $3 each time you want a soda at a hotel, throw a six- or twelve-pack into the car when you head out on the road. For almost as much money as that one soda, you can have a dozen of them chilling on ice in the room, or in the mini-fridge.

Look around for hotels that are having grand openings. These grand openings often have big savings on hotel rooms. In fact, the savings can be very significant - 20% and often more. It's a great way to get a top notch hotel stay and then pass on the word to others about the stay!

Be sure to check it out again if you checked out a hotel price a few weeks ago. Also day to day, even though prices for hotel rooms fluctuate not only week to week. There could be a new price available just because you waited. This is especially true if there's a lot of extra room inventory.

Save money by using the hotel restaurant instead of ordering room service. It is fast becoming common practice for hotels to add service charges to food ordered in the room. These fees can add as much as 20% to the bill. Just use the restaurant. You need to get out of that stuffy room anyway.

When booking hotel rooms on a discount site, keep in mind that you will not be given any of the best rooms at the hotel. Since many discount site users are not likely to visit again unless a similar deal is presented, the better rooms are saved for guests who are paying full price.

Keep an eye out for early check-in fees. If you check in before specific times, there are some hotels that charge extra money. Try asking if the hotel has this fee if you arrive at the hotel early. If they do, see if they offer free bag storage so that you can check in later.

If you have had issues in the past finding the right hotel then perhaps you should follow the advice that you have just read. There is no need to wind up in a hotel that does not provide you with the satisfaction you have paid good money for. It's the hospitality industry, and you are supposed to be in good hands.
