Every month, Netflix releases an official list of the movies and TV shows it will remove from its streaming service in the next four weeks, alongside a selection of new additions, and we dutifully try to share that with you so you can plan your binge-watching appropriately.
You'd think that would be the final say, but the agreements Netflix cuts with studios and networks that force those movies and shows to go sometimes get reprieves. (For example, Silence of the Lambs is on the list below...but it was back in June, too.)
That might explain why there's a slew of films currently marked for a December delete from the service that are not on the official Netflix list.Unofficial blogWhat's on Netflixpoints to a few dozen selections that were not highlighted on Netflix's list. We've highlighted both below, so you cangather everyone around the big screen for one last showing.
The Omen SeriesGone December 1
The Omen(1976)
Damien: Omen II(197 cool
Omen III: The Final Conflict(1981)
This film is one of the reasons you rarely meet a kid named Damien these days. It's a little too well associated with being the name of the son of Satan. Even South Parkdid an episode about it. Sorry, Damiens.
Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony (2013)Gone December 30
The Wikipedia entry for the fandom surrounding the TV show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic claims the show's adult Internet following is predominantly male, which led to the creation of the portmanteau of "bro" and "pony" that is...brony. This movie is all about them. Seriously. It was funded on Kickstarter, and produced by John De Lancie ("Q" from Star Trek: The Next Generation), who voiced a My Little Pony character. And this isn't even the lone brony documentary on Netflix: A Brony Tale is still streaming.
Thor & Loki: Blood BrothersGone December 13
This is a "motion comic"a video adaptation of the Loki print miniseries from Marvel Comics into a four-episode TV show, each of which areabout 16 to 20 minutes. It utilizes the gorgeous original art by Esad Ribic as the basis for the (limited) animation with some mixed in CGI. It looks cool, sounds great with the voice cast (even if they don't sound like the people from the movies), and this one is for older fansit's rated TV-MA.
