How to Care for Cleaning Gear

As a cleaning company owner, exactly how many times do you walk into a janitor closet and find mop pails that are filthy, grimy equipment, vacuum cleaners that have not been emptied, and spray bottles that spray properly? Have you or your supervisors taken some time to train your employees on the best way to properly care for your gear? Use this checklist to help keep your materials and equipment in top working condition.

Wipe bottles as necessary to avoid accumulation and deposits

When needed, replace label

Periodically take cause apart and clean to prevent clogging

Brute & Caddy

Wipe down in and outside as needed

Rags

Do not leave lying around - they certainly are a disorder and security hazard. Keep in a bag for dirty rags

Lose greasy or oily rags

Dust Pans

Disinfect and wipe front border as needed

Brushes

Excess, shakes out. If brush is not clean, wash it out in lukewarm cleaning solution and rinse with clear water. Let dry with bristles straight.

Storage - hang brush - don't put the brush weight.

Brooms

When wet, don't stand on its straws, do not use. Do not professional cleaning supplies use broom for scrubbing. Rotate frequently so it'll wear equally.

Putty Knife

After every days use, wipe knife to eliminate debris and moisture.

Keep in clean, dry area.

Measuring Cups

Rinse with water immediately.

Do not use dry mops to pick up liquids. Do not use dust mops on oily floors.

Do not use force on a wringer lever - use only enough hand pressure on the lever to wring the mop out.

Eliminate any loose mop head yarn, string or foreign matter that becomes tangled in the wringer.

Scrub and wash all surfaces of the bucket with disinfectant. Rinse with tepid to warm water and wipe dry. Keep wringer tight and oiled.

Keep wringer in "release" position when it's not used.

Rinse blade in clean water.

Dry, don't keep with blade down or bent.

Upright Vacuum Cleaners

Empty bag regularly.

Wipe outside of hoover after emptying.

Check for cords, carpet yarns, etc. wrapped around beater bar.

Check for cuts in belt when needed and change.

Empty magnet bar after each use.

Buffers

Wipe down entire surface after each day's use. Additionally wipe cord.

Check pad for replacement.

Blow out motor roughly every 2 weeks.

Once per month check screws and bolts to ensure they are tight.

Slow Speeds

Wipe down whole surface after each day's use. Additionally wipe cord.

Rinse tank after each use.

Assess drive unit for fractures on wear.

Artificial Floor Pads

Flooring pads can be used on both sides. Once both sides have been used, the pad ought to be set aside for cleaning or soaking.

Flooring pads can be cleaned by rubbing one against the surface of another. Or you also can work with a hand scratcher.
