OctoCamo's Diary
I write here what I please and act like someone cares.
Maaaaaaan, I've been so lazy. Has it really been months since I updated my journal. Not that there's really anything interesting to write about. Let's keep up the tradition by starting with news of my work contract being extended once again by another half a year. It was nice to get the news so early. Now I don't need to stress about December being my last salary, so I can go all out on buying stupid junk. : D

Speaking of stupid junk, there's been two Loot Crates since last update.
Here are my favorite items from the previous one themed after "Summons".

Pikachu hat is really nice quality and warm and then there were couple Heartstone items, which isn't a game that I've played. But I like coins and I needed a stress ball. There's also Supernatural Chevy Impala car, which only interests me because my favorite teacher had an Impala and even same rims.

And I don't have a good picture of the TIME crate, so here's a picture straight from LootCrate's site.

It's only few items, but I quite liked it. Bill & Ted T-shirt is great and the hoverboard and spork are pretty neat. But getting one of those stupid POP! figures has been one of my biggest fears, and it now came true. I don't know what to do with it... Maybe I can think of someone to gift it to...

Great. So that out of the way, let's go to the games and stuff.
Past few months has been pretty Steins;Gatey with western release of the game and Finland getting the manga also.

I got the PAL Vita version already a while ago and got really annoyed to later find out that one store in UK had collector's edition for this that sold out instantly. But I was able to buy the collector's edition of American copy of the game. I'm happy to finally have a Metal Upa. I also got a second set of pins, so now I can do something with the other pair.
I haven't read the manga yet so I can go through the game with less memories of all the details. But that hasn't been going fast either. I played some hours of it, but yesterday found that my save file was corrupted and couldn't start the game at all on my Vita. So I'll have to restart it from beginning. Luckily it will quickly be fastforwarded back to where I was because I wasn't far. I'm just super slow at games that require a lot of reading...

After being so disappointed with Mario's last big anniversary, I couldn't resist buying Mario Maker now that Nintendo actually put some effort into celebrating Mario. I've been playing other games, so I haven't put time into Mario Maker yet. But I expect to have a lot of fun with it eventually.

I don't know man. I wasn't impressed with Destiny and didn't even finish the campaign. But I wanted a physical copy of it to remove the US digital from my hard drive. I thought that the collector's edition's contents were pretty cool so I went all out. And I do like all the stuff in it. Except the game really. Probably would be thousand times better if I had friends (with Destiny on PS4).

I went to Gamestop and took a pile of old games I no longer had intentions of playing. Got enough money back from them to buy a second PS4 controller. And I had difficulties thinking of anything else, so I got Mad Max and Project X Zone. Haven't played either. I'm interested in Mad Max, but I've heard that Project X Zone is a total yawnfest. But it has so many characters I like in it that small part of me wants to prove that wrong and enjoy the game. Whenever I get around playing 3DS...

A surprising purchase of the month is a fightstick. Which I'm useless with it as it turns out, but I guess it just takes some time to get used to. I kinda got it for free with the small adapter in front that let's me use pretty much any controller on any system so I was hoping to get around playing Xbox 360 and PS3 more now that I could use XBO or PS4 controller on those systems. As a bonus gift I got these weird apologetic Street Fighter keychain figurines. Which... I don't know... Weird. Why would anyone hang a bowing down street fighter on their keys. And the chain comes out of their bums. Then again I heard current keychain craze in Japan are fluffy Pokemon butts. No, seriously.

I also got this neat little nuke with all Fallout games in it. And with it comes a huge problem of trying to find space for it. And there's another big Fallout related box coming to me this month...
But yay, Fallout.

Aaaand I bought some artbooks again.

Artbook for last season of Legend of Korra came out, so of course I got it like I did with the past ones. And I love it. These books always make me want to rewatch the show. And I really should.

Also got myself some Mad Max. Fury Road artbook was super hard to find. I kinda hate a bit though because it's taller than my other movie artbooks, so it won't fit on the same shelf with them. Also got the old trilogy for 10 euros in a neat steel case. I want to say that the second one is still my favorite, but I had never seen the Thunderdome before and I quite liked it as well. I need to rewatch Fury Road now that it's out on retail.

Here's a really cool thing that has been out for few years now, but I just found out about thanks to Irate Gamer. One of my favorite artbooks and it came with the copy of first issue which is always fun to reread.

There were some new manga releases that I was not expecting. Like a below average single volume manga based on HP Lovecraft's works. But the strangest thing was this one. "The White Witch"
User Image
This is a historical manga based on Finnish Winter War. The main character is a legendary sniper Simo "White Death" Häyhä who has worlds highest record number of confirmed sniper kills in any war with 505 kills. But he wasn't super hot, so they turned him into a anime girl, which is an interesting choice to say the least. But haven't read it yet and there's couple more volumes, so don't have more to say about that. Just thought it was funny.

But back to stuff I've been doing since last update. Of course I continued playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which was excellent. Taking screenshots is one of my favorite things on PS4 and Vita, so I had a ton of them. Here's a selection of some of my favorites. These are mostly from cutscnees so they are key moments, but I tried to select stuff that doesn't really say anything out of context to keep it "spoiler free". Game left me with my own phantom pains. I wish I had someone to talk to about them, but I don't know anyone who's played it yet...

Also continued Bloodborne because one of my friends ended up buying it and got totally hooked against all of my expectations.

It was alright.

Also read through manga One-Punch Man, which is pretty hilarious. Not that many volumes sadly, it just took couple days to get up to newest chapter and now I'm playing the waiting game. Also started watching the Young Black Jack based on Osamu Tezuka's classic. Not really feeling the show, but not really feeling like dropping it either. It's only few episodes in, so it still has a chance to get really good.

Also watched a bunch of movies like As Above So Below, It Follows, Dredd and Ex Machina. Might add couple words on them later. But overall I was quite happy with them.

Aaaaan here it is everyone. Fallout 4 is out. And so far I like it a lot.
I started it after I got home after work and now I have three hours until I have to wake up to work.
