Can you repair window blinds?
Window blinds fit over a window. They have vertical or horizontal lengths of material that open and close by titling up and down. Each is attached by a string to the other in succession to form the blind. There are many moving parts in a blind, and often one or the other starts to fail. Whether it is a crack in the blind, or a malfunctioning draw cord, there are ways to repair them and return your blinds to their original shape.Blind CracksA crack in your blind slats is something a homeowner can repair. Depending on where the crack is, there is a number of methods to fix this problem. For cracks along the string holes, tape or hot glue can http://ringsport.picture4u.de/index.php/component/k2/itemlist/user/292850 be employed to secure the torn fabric or broken material. Match the material to the glue. Superglue will work on paper and plastic blinds, while a stronger wood or metal adhesive is required for metal and wood blinds. Strong tape is a temporary fix, but this will affect how your blinds close, leaving a gap over the area where the blind has been repaired.

BracketsThe brackets on a blind can be taken down, refurbished and repaired or replaced all together. If they bend, or pull out of the wall, new brackets should be employed. They can be reset into the wall a few inches to the right or left of where the original brackets were installed.

TopsThe top of the blinds can also be repaired. Common problems include twisted or tangled draw cords. Fox these by taking the blinds down and then pulling the cord all the way through the blind, working out the tangle as you go. Once the entire length of the blind is pulled through the grommet, return the blind to its original position. The latching mechanism inside a blind is another part of the top section that can break. This can be repaired by replacing the roller mechanism inside the blind, however in most cases it is more effective and efficient to replace the blinds, rather than repair this component.
