I am currently hunting the web for scholarships, since I transferred this year to a four year university. It is A LOT more expensive. around 3,000 a semester or more. plus books, housing/transportation etc. I got a grant but it doesn't cover everything so I also have loans. Well I would love to at least get rid of one loan. So the hunt begins. Well its a lot harder then I thought. First I have to Find these elusive buggers, so I google "college scholarships". The first thing I am greeted with are sponsored pages. I ignore those as past experience says those never lead to what I need. Next are these sites where you have to make an account and then give them information. They promise to "match" you to the scholarships for you! (sounds like a dating site for scholarships lol!) Well once I do that I find that over half of these I do not qualify for. Either because of race, region or major. And I thought these sites would match me to ones based on my information? Anyways, a lot of the scholarships I do qualify for send me to sites where I have to make an account and possibly fill in an essay. Then there is the ones where you do activities to gain points, and use those points to enter into a drawing. But most of the activities require me to sign up with an email to participate. Next thing I know I have a million different accounts on millions of sites, more junk mail in my emails then ever in my life, and not a single scholarship awarded. There must be an easier way to do this
