Learning Tips To Help With Your Organic Gardening
Gardening is a complex hobby, but it doesn't have to be confusing or difficult. This is especially true if you want to garden naturally. You may need to learn everything from soil pH to controlling pests without chemicals. Organic gardening can be a bit tricky for those who are trying it for the first time. Be sure you learn to be a pro by using the tips laid out below.

Select plant types that will bring a higher profits and yield. In many cases, a disease-resistant or cold-tolerant hybrid will produce a higher yield than a traditional variety.

Slug-proof your garden with smart perennial choices. Snails and slugs can quickly wreak havoc on a garden. Snails and slugs like to eat perennials with smooth and thin leaves, especially if they are young plants. Some perennials aren't that tasty to snails and slugs since they have tough and hairy leaves, and an unappetizing flavor. Several good choices include heuchera, campanula, achillea, and euphorbia.

When winter arrives, you can save some plants by placing them in your home. You may want to save the most beautiful or expensive ones. Remember to be gentle when digging up your plants; carefully dig away from the roots and gently place the plant into a container.

Before you plant anything in your garden, have the soil checked. You can get a soil analysis, and if you find your soil needs a supplement, do it! A Cooperative Extension office can provide you with this service, saving you learning on your own by trial and error.

When gardening, be sure to look closely for stink bug infestation, especially during Autumn. Stink bugs like to reside in tomatoes, beans, and pepper plants, as well as many fruits. If you don't treat them, they can do a lot of damage in your garden.

Be sure to weed your garden. Weeds can turn a thriving garden into a total wasteland. A simple tool that is useful in removing weeds is white vinegar. That's right, you have safe way to get rid of weeds right there in your kitchen cabinet. Keep a solution of vinegar diluted with water on hand to spray on weeds.

If you are going to grow peas, start them inside rather then planting them outdoors. Pea seeds tend to germinate much better when planted indoors, before being moved to an outside garden. Give the seeds enough time to get stronger: growing indoors will make it easier for your plants to resist diseases and the pesky bugs. Once they are strong enough, you can transplant them outside.

If you have plants inside, make sure the thermostat stays between 65 and 75 degrees. Plants need to be in an environment that is neither too warm nor too cool for them to grow. You can also buy a heat lamp to maintain ideal conditions for your inside plants during the winter.

Now, you shouldn't get your hopes up and believe that a few tips are going to turn you into an instant professional gardener. However, these tips are a great starting point if you do plan to grow organically. As you implement these tips and hone your skills, you'll be a professional green-thumb-holder in no time.
