Eat your largest meal of the day at lunchtime instead of at night. Instead of a sandwich or salad for lunch, switch things up a bit and enjoy it for dinner. Calorie burning slows down at night, so take advantage of the higher calorie burn during the day with your larger meal at that time.

Don't be embarrassed if you are leaving food on your plate when you're trying to shed weight. Ignore the old adage about not leaving the table till your plate is clean. That belief has done far more harm than good to many waistlines in adulthood. If you are at the home of a friend or family member, simply explain that the food was delicious but the portion was too large for you. Just because it's on your plate doesn't mean you have to eat it. It is important that you recognize when you feel full so that you can stop eating.

Eat with a friend so you eat less and talk more. Eating alone can lead to over-eating as we can be overly focused on the act of eating rather than on portion control.

Use the staircases. It might just be one flight or a more challenging multi-floor trip but it is a great workout for muscles and metabolism. Taking the stairs increases your cardiovascular functions and offers great exercise. This is healthy and helps with weight loss. When you get used to doing this, you may even want to start running up them!

A great weight loss tip is to drop fried foods from your diet. There are other ways you can cook food that are much healthier and just as tasty. Examples include steaming, poaching, baking, and broiling. If you use these methods to cook your food, you can cook your waistline slimmer.
