Best wedding shoes for winter brides - Boston Shoes
Spring and summer may be the most popular wedding months but more and more brides are considering holding their ceremonies in the fall and winter months. Many of these brides worry that strappy white heels just don't look right at their winter weddings. Harper Della-Piana, couturiere at SEAMS Couture, highlighted just how much work brides put into finding the perfect shoe.

"SEAMS brides bring in a fabulous shoe parade for their fittings! The fitting is an opportunity to see all the pieces together and make a decision here instead of at the shoe store. Brides are always given fabric swatches, especially if the gowns aren't white, but sometimes color variations and decision are best in person," said SEAMS designer Harper Della-Piana. "One bride brought over a dozen pairs from Barneys and Nordstrom, so many that her credit card company called her to ask if she may have had her card stolen!"

If you're looking at a winter wedding and want to make your shoe shopping a little easier here are some styles you should try:

Color Pop

One of the best parts about winter weddings is pulling some of those festive holiday colors into your look. SEAMS Couture has seen a huge demand from brides for colorful peek-a-boo crinolines to wear under their traditional white dresses. Carrying that color down to your shoes can look bold or playful, depending on the color choice, and are a great way to tie together the color of your flowers, or accessories, with your gown.

Play with size and shape

Not every bride has to wear heels. Be the first bride you know to wear boots. No, not snow boots. A sleek mid-calf boot with a rhinestone buckle is a great choice for a bride who has opted for a shorter gown and ankle boots work great for a bride who has a long gown.

Go wild

Shoes can be bought with, or altered to have, a small edging of fur (faux, please) or feathers. It's dramatic and luxurious looking- and definitely not something a summer bride could get away with.

Texturize

Winter fabrics are all about interesting textures- think brocade, velvet, even fine corduroy. Bringing those fabrics into your shoe choice celebrates the season and can add a lot of visual interest to your wedding day look. SEAMS Couture has seen more and more brides opting for spiral ruching on their gowns as a dramatic detail. This same kind of ruching effect can be used to add a flower or other fun detail to your wedding shoes.

SEAMS Couture is the top destination for fashionable Boston area brides. The SEAMS Couture shop is located at 152R Main Street in Wenham, MA. Like SEAMS here on Facebook or call 978-473-3398 to make an appointment.
