Tutu Skirts Make The Perfect Tutu Costume Quickly
Why not make a quick tutu skirt for you upcoming dance performance or fancy dress party and save yourself some money too? You will need the following material to make your tutu skirt:-

5-8yd of netting (depending on the length of the Tutu. You can also use Tool for shorter Tutu skirts.) Measuring tape Cutting shears Matching thread Straight pins Sewing needle if not using a machine Matching bias tape 1in elastic band Eyelet hook Fraying glue (Optional)

1. Measure your waist with the measuring tape. Once you have measured your waist using the same measurements to cut the length of the bias tape. Add an extra inch to your length.

2. In order for a tutu to fit properly you are going to measure you elastic band. Slightly stretch it out so it is the same length as your waist measurement.

3. Lay your bias tape out so you can see the full length. Unfold it so that when the netting gets placed it will be hidden inside the tape. Place the netting over the bias tape. Now it's time to start making a Tutu!

4. Use the pleating method while pinning each pleat to the top of the unfolded bias tape. Do this until you reached the end of your party tutu tape.

5. Turn over the skirt and start the backhand stitch. Always stitch a 1/2in from the end of the fabric. You don't want your seams to party tutu come apart. Carefully stitch together the netting and tape with 3mm stitches.

6. You're almost done making your Tutu. Turn your skirt back over so that the netting is now facing you again. Align your elastic band to the top of the netting. Now you're going to fold over your bias tape from the other side so that it is now covering the top of the netting and the elastic. Stitch closed the one end of the elastic, netting and tape.

7. Use the backhand stitch again to stitch the folded side of the tape to the netting. Be careful not to accidentally stitch the elastic tape together.
