If you're going to go on a diet, you want to find one that's going to get you the results you want. Your diet is not what will make your succeed or fail, it is down to you to control this. When a food is high in calories and low in volume it is a high density food, like cookies or sweets, and are the opposite of low density foods. Categories are used in the Volumetrics Diet with group 1 being least dense foods and 4 being most. The first and second groups are what you want to eat the most of.

If you are extremely overweight then your doctor may have suggested that you lose a lot of weight for your health's sake. In this case, your doctor may suggest a very low calorie diet. This is usually defined as a diet where you consume no more than 800 calories per day, which is quite a bit less than most people are used to. Nutrients are something that you need and on this diet you are at risk of not getting enough, that's why most people are medically supervised when on it. It is likely that you will go back to overeating if you go on this diet by yourself with no supervision as you will experience loss of energy and other side effects.

There is no diet that is perfect for everyone. One thing you should do is give your diet a chance and be patient. Very low calorie diets are mostly seen as unhealthy unless needed so the best way to lose weight is by doing it gradually and this will help you keep it off.
