'Table For Two', A New York City Artwork Installation That Lets Folks Sit at a Table That Is Half Inside, Half Outdoors
In the New York City interactive set up Table For Two, folks are invited to sit at a two-individual bistro table which is divided in half by the exterior wall of a building. According to the installation's creator, artist Shani Ha, Table for Two is a commentary on human connection in the digital age, and the difficulty of social isolation amid New York's inhabitants. The installation is on show at the corner of 7th Avenue and Carmine Street as a result of March 14, 2015.
When two persons sit at the split table, they can decide to search at each other or chose to search at their personal reflection confronting the fact that we are getting to be a lot more and extra self-absorbed and at times the presence of the other is basically here to validate our own existence.
When sitting alone, the viewer will encounter an empty table and his reflection in the glass as a reminder to introspection, narcissism or loneliness.
