New Music this week from Drake, R.E.M.
Every Tuesday, the music buying public is treated to the latest offerings in new music. Depending upon the week, the availability of new releases can vary in scope and level of anticipated excitement. This week's new albums feature two noteworthy picks, a highly anticipated new set from rapper Drake, and a final retrospective from legendary alternative rock band R.E.M. Check out what's in store:

Toronto-based rapper Drake has really come into his own since his 2010 mega-selling debut, "Thank Me Later." Not only did the rapper's first official album produce four major hits, his talents for rapping, singing and production propelled his status amongst his peers. Appearing on successful recordings with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Diddy, Timbaland, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and a score of others, Drake has earned a bona fide reputation in the world of hip hop, R&B, and pop music.

Two songs from his sophomore effort, "Take Care," have already scored well on the charts (the lead single, "Headlines" and his newest, "Make Me Proud," with Nicki Minaj), and there's no telling just how many more hits the 25 year-old rapper will produce off this one, as several previews have called this one a solid effort and his best to date.

Last September, the once hugely popular alternative rock band R.E.M. announced they were calling it quits after almost 31 years of entertaining music fans all over the globe with their own brand of rock and roll. This week they're putting out a retrospective, two-CD collection of songs taken from their earliest days right up until the present. Included on "Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage, 1982-2011? are the last bits of new music anyone will ever get to hear from these legends, as three new songs will appear on the album.

Other new music releases this week include:

After last week's release of Justin Bieber's Christmas album, the cast of Glee continues their perpetual album-making prowess with their second Christmas CD, "Glee: The Music, the Christmas Album, Volume 2," which includes traditional and newer holiday classics such as "The Little Drummer Boy," "Let It Snow," and "All I Want for Christmas Is You." The kids do their own version of Band Aid's classic, "Do They Know It's Christmas?" as well as two brand new tunes written especially for the album.

Rappers Gym Class Heroes are putting out their first set of new music this week with "The Papercut Chronicles." The first single, "Stereo Hearts, has already been a big hit with the help of guest vocals by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, and the rest of the album promises lots of good singles that hearken back to the foursome's early days.
