The new film 'Dragon Tattoo' stars Daniel Craig as Mike Blomkvist.  Blomkvist is the male lead journalist in the Stieg Larsson mystery novel-turned-movie which will be directed by David Fincher.  As of right now there's no news on who will play the girl with the dragon tattoo though.

Deadline confirmed the news on Monday that Daniel Craig and Sony Pictures came to an agreement.  Craig will get the lead in the potential trilogy of movies which also include 'The Girl Who Played with Fire' and 'The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest'.  Craig's character investigates what happened to a Swedish industrialist's niece who disappeared decades ago.  Craig is also working on another potential series with 'Cowboys and Aliens' co-starring Harrison Ford.  The actor is now part of some great Hollywood movie franchises including James Bond which is on hold, at least for now.  Still, although Craig is confirmed for 'Dragon Tattoo' they're looking for someone to play the smart hacker tattooed and pierced girl Lisbeth Salander who helps out Craig's character with the mystery.

Earlier rumors said that actresses Carey Mulligan or Kristen Stewart might take the role, but both have brushed off or turned down the notion.  Ellen Page who is a recent star in 'Inception' and former Oscar winner would make a great choice.  Other names mentioned include Mia Wasikowski of 'Alice in Wonderland' and Emily Browning of 'Sucker Punch'.

Daniel Craig makes a great addition to just about any project he's in.  One of his earliest major roles was in the Oscar-nominated "Munich".  He's also well known as James Bond so playing a journalist investigator shouldn't be a stretch for the actor at all.  Finding the right female lead for the dragon tattoo girl is going to be crucial now.  Who would you cast in her role?  Have you read the novel before and do you feel Craig is a good choice so far?
