Can teach old cats new tricks! Amazing product, I highly recommend. Six months ago, we took a deep breath and spent the money to buy a Litter Robot. Best decision ever! After having cats for 40 years, I finally got tired of cleaning stinky cat boxes. We also travel a lot so it's better for my cat sitter. It's great peace of mind knowing that my cats always step into a nice clean box. Also eliminates the odors. It's true, it does use less litter and we didn't need to get some special kind! Since my cats are very old and I wasn't sure how they'd take to it so I had a transition plan. First, I thought the perch might be a little small so I built a carpet covered extension to nicely fit around it. I put the new Robot near the old box (just so they'd get used to its presence). I propped up the old box to the height of the Robot and put the new ramp in front. After a week or two, I switched to the Robot. For about a week, I just manually operated the Robot from the switch, so they didn't associate the sound with the box. No problem for my 18 year old cat, but unfortunately, my scaredy cat came in once when it was running and freaked out. (I had to put a box somewhere else for him. In hindsight, I think if I had done it manually for another week it might have helped.) But after a few months he eventually got used to the sound and now uses it too. Yay! Couldn't live without it.
