I don't know if anyone reads journals anymore but this will give me a good place to vent while I have time before I get ready for work.

I'm in my mid-twenties. I have a starting career in esthetics (skin care/cosmetics to those unfamiliar with the term). A roof over my head. Food in my cupboard. A car in the driveway with at least half a tank of gas in it.

As the new year tolled in, I made a small list of resolutions. One was to be debt free of miscellaneous debts such as my car (less than a year to go!) and two credit cards nearly maxed out. With me pinching pennies this January and getting my taxes done, my tax return is going towards those three things so that I can focus on the ugliest thing of a Smaug... the student loans.

Granted, a PS4 and a new computer are in the works with that, and I am saving up for a TV as we speak for said PS4. (Final Fantasy XV! Final Fantasy XV!)

The second resolution is to bring my cat, Pearl, to where I live now. I have moments where I can use something fuzzy to hug when I need it. Walking into a pet store kinda helps, but isn't the same. Pearl is my best furry friend. Granted, it will be a challenge with her needs to go outside but hopefully with a big house to herself and supervised outdoor adventures, we should be okay.

Another goal this year was to start a container garden this spring. I have always wanted to grow something as part of my farmer upbringing and enjoying the fruits of my labor. My method of doing this is simple and will save money. I will be mixing my own soil, fertilizer will be from leftover things in my kitchen (used coffee grinds and eggshells). In short, I'm keeping it clean as possible and all tools will be made with recycled products (bottles, jugs, etc.).

The following is what I hope to have planted:
- Parsley
- Oregano
- Basil
- Thyme
- Rosemary
- Tomatoes
- Cucumber
- Carrots
- Peppers
- Strawberries
- Catnip (For Pearl!)
- Lavender (Maaaaaaybe)

I have three containers (one a huge storage bin which would be great for the carrots!) so far to use. Hopefully I can be making my tomato basil chicken by summer time!

Well. I've spent a lot writing this out. Gotta go get ready for work and hope the snow isn't too bad here in Syracuse.
