The chief investigator for the DeKalb County District Attorney’s office was jailed overnight in Rockdale County for allegedly driving under the influence. read more

Channel 2 Action News reported that Craig Scott was blog driving a county-issued car on I-20 eastbound at Ga. 138 when he was pulled over for speeding about 11:30 p.m. by Rockdale sheriff’s deputies. read more

Deputies clocked Scott at more than 100 miles per hour before he was stopped, according to Channel 2. Scott refused to take a breathalyzer test, but deputies obtained a search warrant for blood to be drawn. Results of the blood test have not been released. read more

Scott, 45, was booked into the Rockdale County Jail on DUI and speeding charges, and was released on bond about 9:30 Saturday morning, sheriff’s spokesman Michael Camp told Channel 2. read more

Erik Burton, spokesman for the DeKalb D.A.’s office, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an email, “We have recently been made aware of this situation and will follow our normal internal protocols regarding this matter.”

According to Scott’s profile on linkedin.com, he has been chief investigator with the DeKalb D.A.’s office for four years, after serving four years as chief investigator with the DeKalb County Solicitor General’s office. read more

Scott was a detective with the Atlanta Police Department from 1993 to 1998, according to that profile. read more

San Diego Police will post driving under the influence checkpoints from 11 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday at various undisclosed locations around the city.

In a news release, San Diego Police say the checkpoint is in response to increased party going in the holiday season. The agency says that 802 Californians died in 2012 because someone failed to designated check this out a sober driver.

San Diego Police Officer Mark McCullough said in a statement that DUI incidences have hurt locals as well. read more

“Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed 14 lives and resulted in 2271 injury crashes harming 2254 of our friends and neighbors,” he said. read more

Those convicted of driving under the influence can face jail time, fees, fines, classes, and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
