Carson has said in court that Pontillo’s business, at one point, was handling about half the bail bonds in Stanislaus County, worth an estimated $50 million in financial guarantees that clients would show up to court when ordered.

He said Pontillo’s employees should have taken these clients directly to jail if they had failed to meet the requirements of their bail agreement with the business.

“He had turned this into a debtor’s prison,” Harris said during his closing argument Wednesday afternoon. Harris claimed that was Pontillo’s plan, which the prosecutor called “dialing for dollars.”

“I’ll help make the process go as smoothly as possible, without causing any undue humiliation,” Horne says. He argued that Pontillo was at the top of the food http://landmautobody.com chain of this conspiracy.

“Collections drove this business, and it drove it into an illegal enterprise,” Harris argued.

Pontillo is on trial on charges of kidnapping for extortion. “Stuck in jail in Osage County or the surrounding area? Call T&A for a bail.”

The defense attorney says his client was successful because he treated people decently and that the prosecution’s witnesses included disgruntled employees fired by Pontillo.

Former employees testified at the trial that Pontillo was verbally abusive to clients who owed money, and they saw clients handcuffed to gym equipment. Stanislaus Superior Court Judge Scott Steffen informed the jury that the court dropped seven grand theft allegations against Pontillo, but a few grand theft claims remain.

When speaking of the claimed bail forfeiture fraud, the prosecutor said Pontillo used his power to help others break the rules. Frank Carson, Pontillo’s attorney, will give his closing argument to the jury today.
