The badly injured Riverside teen was taken to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena where he succumbed to his injuries at 7:39 a.m., Los Angeles County Department of Coroner Investigator Dana Bee said.. John Luna said.

When Harvey was asked to provide his license, registration and proof of insurance, Hill said the defendant indicated he only had his license and that his registration and insurance were in his garage, court records said. "I am very, very embarrassed by the situation and promise to make it a positive experience for myself."

Harvey, who was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar in 2005, previously worked as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Berkeley County for more than four years, and also was an assistant prosecuting attorney in Kanawha County, W.Va.

Matthew Lee Harvey, 37, of Catalina Pointe also was charged with having an expired registration, according to Jefferson County Magistrate Court records.

“According to independent witnesses, two vehicles had been street racing while traveling on Washington when the collision occurred,” Luna said.

After being treated for his injuries, Garcia was booked at the Pasadena Police Department Jail, according to police and Los Angeles County booking records. Police described him as a 17-year-old Riverside resident. Investigators had not confirmed whether the car that crashed was involved in a race.

The crash remains under investigation by the Pasadena Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.

An 18-year-old Altadena man is accused of being drunk when he crashed a car in Pasadena late Thursday, killing a 17-year-old passenger and injuring three others, police said.

The documents show on November 29, 2012, Sergeant Ray Fernandez got a tip from good friend and attorney Adam Filthaut about Campbell drinking at Malio's..

The name of the teenage passenger who died following the crash was not available Sunday. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail pending his initial court appearance.

Two of the injured passengers had been taken to a hospital by private vehicle when firefighters arrived at the crash scene, Derderian said.

Police arrested Gerardo Garcia on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter following the 12:20 a.m. crash on Washington Boulevard at Lincoln Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. Garcia and three other teenage passengers of the car suffered minor to moderate injuries in the crash.

It appeared he had been thrown from the car, Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.

Fernandez later acknowledged this was not a normal practice.

“(The car) lost control and struck the freeway overpass embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn at least once,” Luna said.

"However, I can state that I did not feel impaired, but did place myself in a situation that I advise my clients to avoid," said Harvey, whose areas of law practice include criminal defense
