Many students find that it is handy to include a water bottle in their school supplies. You have to remain hydrated to ensure your brain and body are functioning properly. If you have little or no downtime between classes, this is an absolute must. Also, water helps to flush out toxins so that you can stay alert and aware. You can carry a reusable water bottle with you at all times and fill it up at a water fountain.

Look everywhere when looking for financial assistance. You may find a scholarship for a student who excels academically or others that cater to specific, unique situations. In addition, there are numerous state and federal grants you can take advantage of that don't require you to pay them back!

It is vital that you apply for loan, scholarship and grant money as early as you can. You won't have to borrow as much money if you get your finances in order earlier. Turn in everything well before it is due and focus on other things you need to take care of.

Make general ed part of your first semester. If you have to take it, but aren't interested in it, leave the hard classes for last. It would be a bummer to be the token senior in a gen-ed class of freshmen four years down the road.

It is important that you map out your first day at school before your actual first day. Plan out the best strategy for navigating the campus, learning the amount of time it will take to get from class to class. Also indicate other important places on your map.

If you plan to move to a different state, or if you are going to live on the campus, think about whether you really need to bring your car. It may be difficult to find a place to park, especially in crowded cities. You may also have trouble paying for your insurance, registration and gasoline, especially if you are not employed.

Be sure to eat a healthy breakfast on test days. Anything, be it a muffin or a bowl of cereal, will do. Hunger pangs are devastating to your test performance. Feeling sick or lackluster can negatively impact your results in class.

Register for the classes you want very early in the selection process. Waiting too long can end up forcing you to take classes that are not necessarily your first choice. Register for your classes the first day that they are offered. That will ensure you aren't scrambling.

The career office is a very valuable resource at your college. Not only do career centers help place graduates, but they also help fill part-time jobs around campus and nearby areas.

Never overload your class load in any single semester. It is easy to burn yourself out and not do well at any of them. Try taking a couple harder classes and a couple easy ones.

Beginning college can be an intimidating experience. Yet, when you apply the advice here to your life, you will see how enjoyable college can be. Just remember that you will look back on your college days with the fondest memories.
