Internal Communications: Planning the Strategy
Inner Communications: Planning the Strategy

Many companies concentrate on conveying with their outside audiences; segmenting markets, researching, developing tactics and messages. Focus and this same care needs to be turned inside to make an internal communications plan. Successful internal communication preparation enables large and small organizations to develop a process of information distribution as a way of addressing organizational issues. Before internal communications planning can begin some essential questions should be answered.

-- what is the state of the business? Question questions. Do some research. One form of research is to take a survey. How's your business doing? What do your employees think about the business? Some may be surprised by how much workers would like to make their workplaces and care. It's also possible to uncover some hard truths or understandings. These details will help lay a foundation for what messages are conveyed and how they are communicated.

-- What do we desire to be when we grow-up? This is where a business can define the culture they would like to represent the organization's future. Most Change management process companies have an external mission statement. Why not have an internal mission statement? The statement might concentrate on customer service, constant learning, quality, or striving to be the most suitable company using the highest satisfaction ratings, although not only to function as the largest business in the marketplace having the most sales.

Inner communication objectives may change over time as goals are accomplished, and must be quantifiable or priorities change. For instance, a company's fiscal scenario could be its greatest concern. One aim may be to decrease spending by 10%. How do everyone help fall spending? This then quantified, and will be conveyed through multiple channels, multiple times, backed up by direction behavior, and then advance reported to staff.

Select your marketing mix. Approaches or internal communication channels include: supervisor to employee, employee to big meetings, small meetings, employee, personal letter or memo, video, email, bulletin board, special event, and newsletter. This list to be in order of the majority of successful has been shown by a number of studies. However, this may be based on the individual organization. Not efficiently, although some firms may make use of them all. As they say, "content is king." One of the worst things a company can do is talk a whole lot, although not really say anything whatsoever.
