The ADA announced Oct. 1 the recipients of the 26th annual Golden Apple Awards in recognition of dental society volunteers and staff for their outstanding activities and excellence in leadership.

    

The Missouri Dental Association received the Golden Apple for Legislative Achievement for a constituent society with total membership of more than 1,000 dentists for its "Reinstatement of Adult Medicaid Dental Services" program.

    

For a constituent society with total membership of fewer than 1,000 dentists, the Golden Apple went to the Nebraska Dental Association for its "Medicaid Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC)" program.

    

In the recruitment category of the Golden Apple for Excellence in Membership Recruitment and Retention Activity, the award went to the Mississippi Dental Association for its "2013-14 Member Recruitment Campaign." The retention category went to the San Fernando Valley Dental Society for its "Afternoon Tea" program.

    

For the Excellence in Dental Health Promotion to the Public, the award for a dental society with total membership of more than 1,000 dentists went to the Wisconsin Dental Association for its print and electronic newsletter "Tongue n Cheek." For a dental society with total membership fewer than 1,000 dentists, the award went to Michigan's Genessee District Dental Society for its "Babies Health: From the Bottom Up" program.

    

In the Excellence in Member-Related Services/Benefits, the Golden Apple for the dental society with total membership of more than 1,000 dentists went to the Massachusetts Dental Society for its MDA mobile app. For a dental society with total membership fewer than 1,000 dentists, the award went to the Monterey Bay Dental Society in California for its "Mentoring & Professional Guidance by the Smile Line" program.

    

Virginia Dental Association's "One URL—A Multitude of Resources on Ethics" received the Golden Apple Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Promotion of Dental Ethics.

    

The Washington State Dental received one of its three 2014 Golden Apple awards in the Achievement in Dental School/Student Involvement in Organized Dentistry for its "2014 Dental Action Day" event.

    

The Excellence in Science Fair Program Support and Promotion Golden Apple went to Louisville Dental Society for its "Science Fair Awards."

    

The Excellence in Well-Being Activities went to the Louisiana Dental Association's "LDA Well-Being Committee: The Next Chapter."

Nominations were received for the Open Category in this year's Golden http://xanderrogers.goupagainst.com/2014/06/04/dental-tips-and-your-next-appointment/ State Dental Association received its third award this year for its "Race, Gender and Dentistry: A Conversation" program in the constituent category. The San Fernando Valley Dental Society received the component award for its "Diversity & Inclusion" program.

    

For individual awards, Dr. Maureen McAndrew, of New York University College of Dentistry, received the Golden Apple for Inspiring Careers in Dental Education.

    

The New Dentist Leadership Awards, which were presented at the ADA 28th New Dentist Conference in July, went to Dr. Dustin Burleson of the Missouri Dental Association. The New Dentist Legislative Leadership award, also presented at the NDC, went to Dr. Christopher Herzog of the Washington State Dental Association.
