Obviously you can't know everything that will happen in the future, but it is crucial that you are prepared. Keep asking yourself what your ultimate goals are and then plan accordingly.

One thing you have to have when you're a leader is some tenacity. When everything goes wrong, the whole team will be looking to you for cues on how to react. Regardless of the roadblocks, you must keep everyone focused on getting things done. Your hard work will teach the group a valuable lesson.

Make sure your team knows that you appreciate the work. It does not take long to write a note of thanks, but it might mean the world to someone who's working for you. Little acknowledgements like this can lift their mood and better their day without costing you anything.

Try not to hire an entire team that is similar to you. That would just limit creativity. Also, your weaknesses and those of your employees could cause your company to fail.

Become an effective writer. Leadership is not all about your title. Your ability to effectively write can help you to present yourself well. If your writing looks unprofessional, people won't respect you as much. Think about how you write and work on it.

Have confidence and forthrightness when you interact with subordinates, clients and customers alike. Do not mistake arrogance for confidence. No one thinks arrogance is a trustworthy trait to have. Being a sincere individual enables others to trust you and want to work for you. However, insincerity will make the workplace a much more difficult place to lead.

Always keep your word. Great leaders need to be trustworthy. If that is impossible for some reason, you need to let others know why. Backing out on promises or changing the game plan on a whim will not gain you the respect of anyone unless they can understand your reasoning.

Make a firm decision in whatever you do. If you would like to be seen as a good leader, it's necessary to make snap decisions and take accountability for them. Employees will not be comfortable following someone who can't seem to make up their mind. Changing how you feel about issues you already took a stand on will make people less confident in you.

A good leader is not alone. Many individuals can serve to enhance, and help to grow the whole group. In your role as leader, bring together groups of people to discuss issues, come to decisions and provide differing perspectives. This allows you to see all the angles and make the right decisions and lead effectively.

Leaders shouldn't be by themselves. Working on specific goals with your entire group will help you reach your goals. You need to select the best people to turn your projects into successes. That is how you can be a great leader.

Get all pertinent information before making decisions. Respected leaders are the ones that can make decisions that change the lives of others. You must take risks. Quick decisions, using all your knowledge about a situation, will help to show others you understand and make them want to follow you. Don't question your instincts. You need to know that not all decisions will work and be willing to learn from those experiences.
