cells express AQP1. Therefore, we examined the expression of AQP1 mRNA in RGM1 cells. As shown in Fig. 1A, a clear expression of AQP1 mRNA was observed in RGM1 cells as well as the rat stomach and kidney. Furthermore, we examined the gene expression of several other AQPs (AQP3, AQP4, and AQP9), which reportedly play a role in cell migration [12], [16] and [17]. However, neither of these AQPs mRNAs was expressed in RGM1 cells (Fig. 1B).
