Lanzer working from home! Hello everyone! I'm just dropping by to let you all know that I'll be working at home at some new projects, and I won't be showing up at the Gaia Office for a while. What that means is that I had relieved myself of programming duties, and I won't be working on the new Tentacl project anymore, but at the same time my role as an admin and chief Gaian continues and I'll have more time on my hands as an admin. So if you're got questions or concerns, feel free to PM me, and I'll do my best to answer all of them. 12 years is a crazy amount of time. I went from being old to being an ancient relic. I remember starting from one project to going through half a dozen different different projects throughout the last few years. I've been tremendously busy, and ATA was the only outlet in which I could take a short breath and share how things were going, though after I joined the Tentacl team, I didn't even had time to do that. At the end of the 12th year, I've decided that I should relief myself of my duties to run any new projects and give myself a time off. Now I can actually have a breath of fresh air and be able to relax, and spend more time on Gaia as an admin. I will continue to count on the Gaia team to keep being awesome, and we just hired a few new people so I can't wait to see what they can do. I will continue supporting Gaia, and I hope that all of you will be here supporting the team with me. 3nodding

So glad you are not actually leaving Gaia! This is a really big sigh of relief!

You probably deserve a vacation anyway. How long had it been?

Lanzer, are you still Gaian or are you off the site? We wanna make sure they still have your guidence to not run this place too far from your original plans. We've watched everyone leave us and we still need you around!

Thank you for clearing this up, Lanzer. When I saw the hype last night it really left me heart-sick. This place has been such a wonderful escape from the daily grindstone. I'm glad you're able to do more things that you're passionate about. In any case, it just wouldn't be the same without you around.

I'm glad you didn't leave but just restructuring your life. 12 years is definitely a long time and it's time for you to take things a little more slowly. I hope we'll see more of you in the forums. You were definitely missed these last several months.

So you're not really leaving us? crying Oh my gosh, you have no idea how upset I was. You've been the only constant since I joined back in '04! I still have your post telling us all you've never had your very own rubber ducky...... sweatdrop cuz that doesn't sound stalkery at all. There's a topic in GCD talking about how much we all care about you and were sad you were leaving.

I stopped supporting gaia when you's axed SummerSprings after I'd put money into it to help you's out. It was at that point I realised I don't like you's enough to simply consider it good charity.

I'd also like to point out that in over 5yrs of being a loyal user I've only had 1-2 mods/admin PM me to compliment me or thank me for doing right, whereas I've had well over 20-25 contact me for things like posting in wrong forum, disagreeing with people, etc. That fact probably also plays a part in my somewhat lessening loyalties for this place. Like, I spend most of my time here helping fix people's problems and maybe even saving a few lives over the years, and all your mods want to do is b***h. See my problem.

Over the past few years I've weaned out a lot of my activity that typically would have occurred on gaia to other forum-based sites that're far more grateful for my service to their communities.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the amazing years that you have run Gaia and kept it going strong with the others. I can't name all the devs and team but I know they matter to what Gaia has become. I have been a member since 2004 and 11 years is a long time to be a part of something this amazing. GaiaOnline to be exact. I could keep on thanking you for everything you have done but my comment would go on for quite a long time so I'll leave this be for now. It must be nice to relief oneself from the duties of constant work. I hope you'll be okay and update us all again soon :3

I meant to post this about a month ago, but thanks for keeping us in the know. I hope you're enjoying your new projects and I hope that you have been able to find more free time.

The interaction that the staff has (had) with its users was one of my favorite parts about this site. Made it feel like a tight knit community. I never personally interacted with the staff, but the interaction was there.
Hearing that you'd quit (before this entry cleared things up) made me think about times from years past. And then I remembered a moment from when Towns first opened. My internet connection wasn't fast enough to handle the crowded, popular spots. I was off by myself in a random square, standing by a tree. Lo and behold, you walked through and shot a peace sign emote off at me as you went. An admin sighting! Ha. But yeah, the little things like that make this site feel special.

Ah, I feel it's been ages since I last read your journal entry. I didn't think I would be inclined to visit your journal again after seeing your thread today. whee

I'm glad to see you're still staying in Gaia as an admin. Naturally, because you're the founder of this site! Plus, I'm among those old Gaia users who, having experienced more than a decade of Gaia Online, still see you as Gaia's father figure. It feels Gaia Online won't be the same without you!
