Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United look to have missed out on highly rated Dutch star Memphis Depay after he reportedly signed a new deal with PSV Eindhoven.
The attacker sparked rumours he was ready to leave Holland after refusing to sign a new contract.
Spurs were reportedly leading the race to land Depay but it now appears they will have to move on to new targets after Dutch football expert Elko Born said an extension to his current deal had been agreed.
“Memphis Depay has extended his contract at PSV until 2018. A summer move seems out of the question now,” he said.
“I can see Depay lighting up the Eredivisie this year and making a big move next summer. PSV huge title contenders now.”
The 20-year-old had suitors across Europe following his impressive showing for the Netherlands at the World Cup.
Depay had been tipped as a target for Louis Van Gaal at Man United but the Dutch boss thought it may be better for the player to spend another year in Holland before leaving.
The player scored 13 goals for PSV last season and has already scored four in his first two matches of this campaign.
