Make spaghetti Bolognese on a low budget
A lot of people used to think Twitter was simply the next big fad that was certain to die a faster death than MySpace. Well, a lot of everyone was wrong and most of them are now flocking to the micro-blogging network quicker than they are scrambling to Facebook. Yes, Twitter is the underdog in the social networking wars, an underdog that is very well-equipped to possibly topple Facebook's figures in the next several years. It partially has got something to do with the fact that Facebook's user base has become so big that Twitter offers definitely more space for growth.

There is also a theory that Twitter have a magic number of Two thousand, you need to keep your followers and subsequent balance within 7%. I don't know if this sounds like true, but look after it, just in case. For those who have more followers than a person are following, twitter enjoys you.

These are the tools I have used to go from 40 follows to 5000+ in five days. I know people tell you that they are other ways, this is how I actually made it happen.

Make your followers aware of your presence.

How often and how much should you tweet? It truly depends on how much valuable content you have to say. If you have two or three blog posts you would like to share to your followers, space all of them out hrs during the day so you don't look like you're trying to bombard them with lots of tweets. This way, you make your Twitter existence known to people who log in at different occasions of the day.

Link with your followers.

Engage people in discussions not only by inquiring interesting questions, which is a good way to initiate healthy debates, incidentally, but also by replying to them in public. Replying to other people's tweets through direct messaging might seem polite. After all, you don't want to inundate your own followers with irrelevant tweets they really do not want to read about. It can make you look such as a snob, though, and that is something not good for your image. Be interpersonal and twitter update your responses in public. Also, don't think you are above connecting to your followers or even retweeting their posts. Your goal on Twitter ought to be to connect with actual people, not to build a large follower foundation for the sake of your business's reputation.

Use hashtags.

A hashtag is the pound symbol (#) followed by a term or phrase that is used by Twitterers to find posts that might be fascinating to them. For example, if you're looking for posts that have something to do with used college textbooks, all posts that have the actual hashtag #usedcollegetextbooks will appear to you, even when these were made by individuals whom you do not follow. Similarly, if you use keywords for your hashtags, individuals searching for businesses like your own will find your own tweets, even when they don't adhere to you. Don't be so generous with hashtag use, although. Use them moderately, that is, only for your best posts.
