Jewelry That Looks Like A Million Bucks
It's not always easy to know when to wear or how to care for each piece of jewelry. There is quite a bit to learn about jewelry, and it might be hard to make sense out of it. This article contains answers to your everyday jewelry questions and concerns.

Separate your jewelry for storage to avoid getting pieces tangled. Use a box that has several different compartments and hooks to keep your pieces apart. Avoiding piling your nice jewelry pieces into one big heap in a box. This can harm delicate parts, and tangle some pieces with others, like necklaces.

How much is yours worth? Always keep your jewelry in a place that doesn't experience extreme temperatures or humidities. Store them in a closed jewelry box or small drawstring bag for maximum protection. Certain metals begin to tarnish when exposed to humidity. Precious metals, through some work and polish, can be restored to their original condition. Non-precious metals are coated, which means that polishing will allow copper metal to come through.

Knowing what type of jewel you are buying when you purchase jewelry is very important. Three different kinds of gems are available for purchase: imitation, synthetic and natural. While natural and synthetic stones are the real deal, imitation stones are made to look like a real gemstone, but could be anything from colored glass to plastic. Natural stones are found in the earth and are mined out, while synthetic ones are grown in laboratories.

Make sure a piece of jewelry is still in style before you buy it. You will enjoy your jewelery even more if you can get it on sale.

Always ask the jeweler about an insurance policy before buying a new piece of jewelry. Insurance policies allow you to bring a defective or broken piece into the jewelry store for repair. You might find some jewelers who are willing to insure it against loss and theft.

You will need to take special care when you are buying costume jewelery! A fair amount of costume pieces are set with glue. Don't let them go under water or clean them with strong chemicals, or you could dissolve the glue. The best way to clean these pieces are to wipe them clean with a damp cloth and dry immediately with another cloth. Doing so will keep your jewelry looking its best for life.

Before purchasing a piece of jewelry, be sure to ask the jeweler about insurance policies. If you can get insurance, you know that you will be covered if something happens to your jewelry. In some cases, insurance policies will cover lost, misplaced or stolen pieces.

The brooch adds a unique touch and a bit of your style to your outfit. You have the option of placing it close to your hip, or at your waist near the center.

Resist the common notion that size matters; concentrate instead on quality and clarity. Also, keep in mind the personality of the person you are giving the diamond to.

Comparison shopping for diamonds is critical. Every diamond is unique and has its own set of flaws. Once you see a diamond yourself, certain flaws will be less of a concern to you. Depending on the number and types of flaws in a diamond, jewelers may be somewhat flexible in pricing the piece.
