It will help you navigate the wonderful world of plumbing.

If your pipes make squeaking and hammering noises, it may be very simple to fix. You simply have to securely fasten any pipes that are exposed. You might have to call a professional to help finish the project if pipes are in floors, ceiling or walls.

If you have a water pipe that freezes, have the tap closest to it turned on so the water can exit while the pipe thaws. This assists you in relieving pressure within the pipe, and could stop any bursting from occurring, which can prevent additional damage to your home.

If your toilet will not flush, and there is very little water in the basin, try to fix the issue by dumping warm water in the bowl from around your waist line. Once the water level gets low again, repeat the process.

Never put fat, grease, or oils into your drain. When they cool, they'll harden and clog your drain. This is most true if you use a garbage disposal, as the fat causes the blades to function slower and they will become less efficient. See to it that you dispose the oils away from your sink.

It is very important to to use lots of cold water when running your garbage disposal. The cold water keeps your blades sharp, which helps your disposal run smooth. Grease will stay solid and go through your drain with cold water; you don't want gooey grease in your pipes.

Don't use your toilet like a trash can, and you minimize potential problems. Do not flush sanitary pads, paper towels, cotton balls, tissues, diapers or other materials, as these items do not dissolve and could cause clogs. Use the least amount of toilet paper you can when you use the toilet, too.

Keep your garbage disposal clean to make sure it lasts for awhile. By having a regular cleaning routine, which includes a combination of lemon rinds, dish soap and even pits from a cherry, your disposal can be kept smelling fresh and running smoothly for many years to come.

If you want to add some water pressure to the shower or any spigot in the home, make sure you clean out the aerator. First, you should remove and disassemble the aerator. Next, clean it with a brush that has been dipped in white vinegar. Then simply rinse and reattach the aerator. If the problem was caused by a dirty aerator, cleaning it will increase the pressure.

Make sure to clean out the dryers lint trap. This not only prevents fires, but saves money. Always check your lint trap for damage, such as holes or tears. This could allow lint to enter your pipes, leading to clogs or other plumbing complications.
