The Game of Futsal
Football legends like Ronaldinho and Pele credit futsal for their fast-thinking, dribbling and passing, and the quality, ingenuity and technical perfection required by a good futsal player has created world class soccer sensations all around the world. But what precisely is futsal, and how is it different from the traditional game of football?

With fewer players than outdoor football and a smaller pitch, futsal demands a high amount of ball control and technique, and gives each player the opportunity to showcase their creative side.

As an alternative futsal occurred in the late 1930s to the deficiency of soccer pitches in South America. The late 1930s' name, originally meaning "hall football", comes from Portugal and stuck to the game after it became

Futsal became an official sport during the sport's second world championships in 1985 in Madrid, and has been labeled as a variant of organization Football.

In Brazil, there are more people playing futsal than regular soccer, but there's a much bigger public interest in soccer that is outdoor, despite the growing popularity of futsal.

Today, both FIFA and UEFA recognize futsal as an official soccer game.

All teams are allowed a maximum of nine replacements, along with endless substitutions during matches. Matches are played on hard court surfaces, and any conventional handball pitch can be utilized in futsal.

The duration of each match is limited to two periods of 20 minutes. However, any half of the match may be extended if more or five fouls have been committed by one of the teams during the game, in which case the other team is entitled to a number of penalty kicks.

All matches are commanded by a timekeeper, one third referee and a chief referee, one second referee. The decisions made by the referees are final, and the timekeeper maintains track of the ultimate extra time to the matches.

Sometimes, a match cannot end with a draw, and it'll usually be settled with extra time or penalties.

The offside rule will not apply due to the size of the pitch and quantity of players to futsal.

Unlike conventional soccer, futsal allows no physical contact betweenplayers. Shoulder charges or no sliding tackles are taken.

Similar to outside soccer, futsal players danger being cautioned with a yellow or a red card for unprofessional or poor conduct.

Futsal kits include jerseys with or without shinguards, sleeves, socks and shorts, and elbow pads and long trousers for the goalkeepers.

The ball is smaller and with less bounce than a standard soccer ball.
