Day 3 14th June 2014 Saturday.
This letter will be shorter than the others simply for lack of stuff to actually do on the ship. It mostly consists of me sitting around and reading or playing The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.
I spent the first 5 hours of today typing out the last 2 entries. The sun is rising already and my stomach is upset and I don't know if it's motion sickness or hunger and I'm tired. I think I need to drink some water I'm really dehydrated from all the coffee I had yesterday and I feel a caffeine headache coming on. I wish I could listen to Cecil's soothing voice but I have no phone service.
This entry will most likely have a bunch of pictures because there's not a lot to do so it'll be fairly uneventful.
The location on the ship I'm at is the less pleasant one. They never turn off the lights in this room. It's also the loudest in terms of white noise and there is no carpeting.
I think I will sleep soon but I want to drink water first. The reason I'm forcing myself to be so sleep deprived is partly intentional and partly not.
Partly because I'd rather sleep through the 36 hour ferry ride than actually be mentally present on it. It's boring as hell after …. the first time. Secondly it's constant white noise and vibration especially because of my poor location where I'm right over their massive engine. Unfortunately the rest of the ship is crowded and the places with electrical outlets is this room and the reading lounge on the 3rd level which is completely full.
I managed to sleep for 7 hours on and off I kept waking up because of noise or my arms falling asleep.
I had a dream the ferry had turned around to go back to the port we left from because someone did something criminal. That's not how the ferry usually deals with things though. They would only turn back to the port they left from if someone died or got injured really badly.
One of the Ferries called the Columbia has a helicopter pad but the one I'm riding is the Malaspina, My mother is at work on the Matanuska.
There's also the Aurora, Fairweather, Chenega, Kennicott, LeConte Lituya, & Tustumena. Most of them have been named ofter glaciers.
The time I woke up was 13:36.
I found out the gift shop is closed permanently now. But I also found out I was wrong about my keyboard dying. I forgot that I unplugged it's wireless receiver from my laptop.
I saw a whale today. I've seen them hundreds of times but it's still cool.
With much love,
