The Life and Tales of Dianne
This is about my life, whatever I deem is appropriate or important enough to document. There will probably be poetry intermingled with my entries as well.
People and Such
So, it's been a few days since I have written in this, but I was really waiting until something had actually happened, rather than just talking about something out of the blue.

First off, I recently saw The Fault in Our Stars and oh my how I loved it! I have to say, I'm a little biased because it is one of my favorite books so that's something to keep in mind as you (if you even exist) read this. Now, don't worry, I won't give away any spoilers. I just thought the entire movie was so close to the book. I enjoyed the casting and how well the actors meshed together. I thought they had so much chemistry that it was incredible. I also liked how the patients in the support group (minus the major actors) were real life cancer survivors. That is just a cool little tidbit that makes the movie that much more special. One of the things I didn't like is that they cut the John Green cameo out of the movie; that would have been a fun little touch. Another thing that someone pointed out to me, is that the relationship between Hazel and Gus never changed in the way that it did toward the end of the book. (I know that is a little vague, but I think those who read it will understand, hopefully.) Anyway, I cried like everyone else in the theater, and I had a very bad night with my depression/anxiety because of it, but I still loved it nonetheless.

Okay, the other thing I wanted to talk about was the family reunion I went to this past weekend. When most people think of family reunions, they think of food and that's probably about it. But with my boyfriend's family, it's like the olympics. They have so many family members (I think there were around 40 people in total this weekend) and they are almost all really competitive when they play sports, especially volleyball. One of the aunts actually almost broke her nose three-ish years ago, broke two fingers last year, and got hit in the face with the volleyball this year and was terrified that she had messed up her lasik surgery. This is the reason I don't play volleyball with them and I just sit back and watch.
Another cool thing about this year is that I think I really bonded with my boyfriend's sister. She is older than us by like ten years and has a family of her own so we don't see them much, but she told me that she stalks my facebook sometimes and that she has basically fallen in love with me because of all the educational and feminist things I post or share on there. Now, I know this doesn't sound like very big news, like 'ooh, she likes my facebook,' but this actually means a lot to me because I am so used to getting disappointed comments from my family. (I am very democratic and all for social justice and the rest of my family is very conservative and don't really think outside of the Bible bubble.) I usually just have to avoid confrontation by not saying anything, but with her, I felt accepted which was totally awesome.
Sadly, one of my favorite cousins of Ryan's was not there due to a mission trip he is on in China. But his girlfriend came with his mom (she's the aunt that got hit in the face) and his girlfriend and I had a major bonding experience because we both attended our first family reunion at the same time. So it was wonderful to get to catch up with her as well.
Of course I enjoyed all the company, and the scenery was beautiful, so I had a great weekend, besides the lack of sleep and no privacy. There were kids running around, and a three month old to play with, and lots of questions about the future and my life goals which is always nice to share because you can tell that these people are so interested and that they really care what you have to say. All in all, this was one of my favorite family reunions by far, and I kinda wish it had lasted longer.
But as always, I'm glad to be back in my warm and cozy bed and have the option to just sit and chill by myself for a little bit.
I'll update more when some more excitement happens!

With love, Dianne
