Run, run, run, run My thoughts match my haggard breaths as I launch myself forward. I can hear them chasing me, they're sick, but fast. I feel branches and brush as I fly by, they try to pull me back but fear pushes me forward. I feel a hand and scream, I push my legs farther, stretching my stride passed the limit. I see the door I scream again, I see a face in the window, it leaves. They have only moments to open the door, I hear screeching and the familiar grind of the push lever being operated, a slit grows in the bottom of the door. I also hear screeches as the sickly see me escaping, I don't care, I will the door to open just a little bit more with my mind and thank the heavens for softball. I push myself the last hundred yards and push down the burn in my lungs and the ache in my legs, I envision a home base right after the door, I drop and slide, rolling the last bit as the door slams shut. "What the hell Cassie?" I stare at the dirt floor for a moment and let myself breath. I smile; I got away again. I push myself up into a push-up and then up to my feet, my smile falters when I see the stern look in Daniels eyes. They are usually full of fear. They looks a cool as river stones. "I got away Day, aren't you relieved? Happy?" I see his jaw flinch, "Happy? Dammit Cassie, every time you go out there, it's a wreck. You get away, but you sure as hell don't care what would happen if you didn't. I mean, why do you think I cover for you? because you know that if you didn't come back they'd find out and then I'd be thrown out to find you. Do you even think? Why do you have to be so stubborn?" I cower at his words, he steps forward and I step back. He frowns and goes back up the stares to the little room where he stays to monitor the front gate, usually he keeps the door open, now he slams it shut. But I feel like it's not the chaotic world he's shutting out, it's me.
I throw the dagger into the wooden beam, I cleverly turn between a different beam and pull my bow from my shoulder, I grab a arrow from my quiver and give it a quick aim before releasing it. It misses. I breath out a breath of frustration, "If you keep holding your breath like that you'll miss everyone of em'." I look at the open door, the training instructor leans against the open door, propping it open. I pick up another dagger and look at the point where a cross-beam bends to meet the next, I breath in, throw, and breath out. The dagger sticks to the crease, that'll be hard to get down, "What do you want Marina? Another chance to humiliate me in class? Or my heart on a platter?" She smirks, "No, none of those, just wanted to know what you did to Daniel to make him so angry, did you get his heart on a platter?" I roll my eyes, "I took his lighter again." I lie, no one knows that I go out of the gate. No one can know that I do, It's not allowed. Of course. Marina squints her eyes at me, I nervously bite my cheek. Marina has a scope eye for lies, especially ones concerning Daniel. "Well give it back." I slowly release my breath, Marina turns and the door starts to close. She turns back to me right before it shuts and says to me, "Oh, there's been some suspicious activity my the front gate. Stay away from Daniel alright?"
