So ive always wanted to write about this, just some things on my mind i need to write down. After high school my parents basically ask me what I wanted to do & I had no fcking clue. My dad gave me three options, 1 was go to the navy, 2 study abroad (engineering), 3 live off parents for the rest of my life lol jk. Even though I liked both options at the time my parents didnt even want what I wanted to do. I mean I did tell my dad that I wanted to be an artist lol but he then told me that is not so good yadda yadda. So instead I listen to my dad and picked option 1 right off the back cause why not? I get to hold a gun and pew pew blow up sht how fun is that right?? So I called up them recruitment officers from my old high school scheduled an appointment for a interview with my parents in the next week. At this time I was happy that I finally had something to do. However three days before I thought about everything do I really want to go? Am I really that desperate to join the navy and risk things just to impress my parents ? I decided to call off the appointment, it was kind of like the movie Super-bad when Seth was trying to buy beer at the grocery store LOL. Well after that fiasco I didn't know what was going to happen next so I just became sad for about a year. But hey i dont think it was that bad. it was a year that i was searching for who i really am. looking back at this picture it makes me so angry that im smiling like the happiest man ever with no clue of my future. Well anyways this year seems better but now the hardest question I have to answer is right on my door step. "Should you listen to what your parents want or live your own life and do what you think is best"? This question isn't really that hard to answer but it did trip me out a bit. If you listen to what your parents want not only do you make yourself happy but them aswell, and there is no other feeling of making asian parents proud lmao. Choosing what you want in life well seems like a gamble. you may be happy doing something you love but do you make dat $$$ ? xD Well the whole reason I wrote this because I'd like to know what your opinions are & yes I do know other cultural backgrounds play a big part but please tell me. made up my mind & im going with it cool Thanks for your time !

I've struggled on this in the past and kind of still do...so from my experiences...
Find something that meets both:
Do something that your parents approve of or explain that what you're doing now could lead to what they want.
And then do what you think you want, at least you have a better idea of what you want than I ever did, even now when I think about it I really don't know...
If you're sure of what you want to do, or only half sure, that's better than running round and round with your mind in circles about your future.
Time flies, next thing you know you're living in it. I got too caught up on the future without realising what was in front of me, in the now. Don't just do something because it might lead to something better if it makes you miserable now, do something that makes you happy, makes you smile and be excited every single day. One that doesn't make you feel doomed or trapped.
And if you are unsure like I was, don't feel like going in to something half-heartedly will leave you doomed. Life isn't so structured or confining, just because you make one wrong decision it shouldn't close doors. Keep looking for opportunities, what you couldn't do yesterday you can at least try and make up for tomorrow.
