I was working on this picture for a few months, and finally got it to where I am happy with it.
It is quite big, and likely to stretch your screen, so I'll put it in a spoiler tag.
After running away from a terrible incident, Mina fled to the woods. In the woods she found rugged terrain, viscous flora and fauna. She found herself wound up in wild bushes of thorns, and struck with intense pain. Overcome with such pain, she passed out in the bushes.
When she awoke, she saw a delicate sign of life: within the thorns was a rosebud, not quite a flower yet. With a little help, the bud could bloom.
Mina, being her caring self, nurtured the rosebud. She slowly stood up and brought it water from the nearest brook.
With this act of kindness, the rosebush bloomed, as if to say "thank you."
Mina moved on, and soon on her new journey, she heard the music played by a family of Roma. This family played music every evening. Mina fell in love with it, and secretly listened every night from a safe distance.
This is a romance that shouldn't exist, and yet it flourishes.
Mina is a vampire, immortal, doomed to walk the Earth forever seen as a monster to be feared. However, underneath her cold skin and all her scars beats the heart of a loving, caring young woman.
She has discovered a love interest, Rose, a free-spirited young Romani woman who has a knack for healing. She's a gal who understands and is sympathetic to Mina's plight.
Mina fell in love with Rose, but was too timid to admit it at first, so she merely watched from afar, watching her dance around a campfire and play her tambourine every evening. After she'd fall asleep, Mina would leave a primrose lilac for her on her doorstep every night. Rose loved the anonymous gifts, and was encouraged to continue performing each evening.
Eventually, Mina and Rose met and fell in love with one another. The future of their romance is bittersweet.
Unlike Mina, Rose is a mortal, and would eventually die. Rose is a kindhearted human, and would normally pass on to Heaven after death.
However, what is Heaven? Rose's idea of Heaven is to be with her soulmate. It's not Heaven if she's not with Mina.
And so, Rose returns to Earth, reincarnated, time and time again, to be with Mina.
They are lovers across time.
The rosebush is a perennial plant. It goes into dormancy every winter, and its flowers wilt every year.
Mina continues to nurture the rosebush to ensure it blooms every spring.
