I am an Asian minority. But I may be among the majority of that minority.
I'll say briefly…
The Miao people have many subgroups. They are spread out all over Asia and various other countries around the world. They are also very good at adopting the cultures from the areas that they dwell in.
Anyhow, I just recently found out about this video. It's very pretty, but I feel that it's not very accurate. One reason is because Fenghuang life doesn't look like what is depicted in the video. At least not in today's world. It's a tourist magnet. But some scenes near the end of the video looks precious, the dancing.
As for the lyrics…. X:
Timeless Love of Fenghuang - Yarrondeny
The next video is a slightly more accurate representation of the Miao. It is of one of the subgroup. I can pick out words similar to my dialect, but I believe the majority of the song can be better understood with the other dialect, the Hmong Green (Blue). I will verify that with my brother-in-law, soon.
Song of the Thrush
And that's it for today's dull musings.
