So, if you read my statuses, you'll see that a pregnancy is hopefully in the near future for my girlfriend and I. To give a little detail, I decided to write this journal post to explain a few things.
1. We're both females and we want to have babies of our own making. Therefore, we'll be doing an insemination at home with the provided equipment necessary.
2. Recently, I had a women's exam and tons of tests done to make sure that my body is as healthy and prepared as possible. I was recently diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome meaning I have the development of cysts on my ovaries and just had one removed from my breast. I am now taking a medication that not only helps minimize the cystic activity but has proven to be a reproductive enhancing medication (some women even using birth control have gotten pregnant while on this medicine for PCOS).
3. My girlfriend and I have an appointment next week to talk with a family planning clinic so we can discuss our options (where to find the right donor for the right price, etc.) and I am beyond anxious to find out what's next.
4. Our plan from the get go was that since I'll be graduating in September this year, we should start trying about June so that it doesn't affect or hinder my education.
I feel that we're more than ready to start our family. I'll have my associates in Network Systems Administration by September and be ready to start a great money-making career with job security and benefits included. She has an associate's in Business and soon will be getting the Lap Band surgery so that she can finish what she started by losing the weight necessary to become healthy enough to work. We've been together for 2 years next month, we've seen each other's horrible and amazing sides, and we've toughed out every hardship. Anyway, I'm just ecstatic about it all and can't wait to have my own little baby bump!
